My Linux Image Server

So I made an image server using Ubuntu 5.10 with Apache 2.0 and WebGallery. url

     -I put the current version of Damn Small Linux in /files/dsl, so if anyone  wants to download it, go ahead.  Or just get it from damnsmalllinux.org

The server itself is a 1998 Compaq Deskpro, which I procured for $10
128 Mb RAM
P2 300 MHz

I love messing with old PC's. I bought mine at a thrift store. My friend gave me his old HP, which I used for parts, and my other friend might give her old comp.  If anything, I can run DSL on it.

Wish I knew how to do that. I have an old comp laying around and could use a free web host.

If it sucks a bit less, you could just use a graphical interface. Other than scrolling the a preferences file and changing stuff you want to, Apache on a unix system is just drag and drop.

I basically did a Ubuntu 5.10 server install, the pretty much followed these instructions.

edit- once I had Linux installed on the beast, I did everything from my desktop by connection to the server using openssh. So really, you don't even need a monitor, other than for installing the OS. Not too sure how you would do that using windows...maybe with puTTy, or if they make openssh for windows.. I run Ubuntu 6.06 on my dekstop, so I really wouldn't know. Linux > *

Ok, well I forgot about RAM. It had only 64 Mb originally, then I put in another 64 Mb from another computer.
