Homemade E-bolt

Here's the deal. I've got a pretty old 98 custom and I've developed an obsession with the e-bolt. The problem is I don't have one and ebay's nearly fresh out. I've done a lot of forum searching and I've read about people making their own but I was unable to find any truely informative posts on how to go about doing it. I don't have a lot of experience with electric guns so if anyone has done this themselves or can offer any helpful info on making one that would be great.

So far the only homebrew ebolts/electronic markers. The people were well versed in electronics. Such as programming their own IC's.

Other than that, you might be able to buy a board like WAS then take off the solenoid and replace it with a pnuematic solenoid. Then make your own ram to make the "bolt".

In fact, that kind of intrigues me.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Almost any EP gun board will work (timmy, dm, etc) Rams can be bought from clippard.com(i suggest a 2-way for faster cycling speed) Solenoids from Airsoldier. DM4 boards work well because of their size, and MiniMorlock boards are awesome, and very tiny, just very expensive. I've also read of people using the stock endcap and mounting the ram to it instead of trying to make one. Good luck.

You would need quite a bit of experience on a metal lathe to attempt it. Not to mention all the little quirks like cutting proper o-ring glands (Something I still struggle with)

i made my own ebolt.....if ur talking about making a ram sleeve thats a whole lotta work, i just get a gta ram... u should be able to figure out the rest....oh and i know someone that can make u a 2-way ram seal(if u send me ur ram cap)for $45......he owns astro tool and die making stuff with a cnc all day.....very good man

it would take a long time to make it, but i guess you could........you should sell them.......theyre so much cooler than the new ones its noteven funny

From what I understand, the solenoids are responsible for opening and closing the pneumatics...right? If that's the case will I need to use two with a 2 way ram? I just looked on airsoldier.com and those things are unbelievably expensive so if anyone knows where I can find some cheaper ones that have a pretty fast cycle rate I'd appreciate it.

As for supporting the ram I'll probably try and make use of the end cap. If that doesn't work I can probably have someone whip something up for me. And I think I'll be using a mini morlock for the board.

Thanks a 3 way solenoid valve would make it significantly cheaper. But are you sure about the 1 inch stroke? I measured the stock bolt travel and it moves almost exactly 1.5 inches from cocked to opening the valve. While I could shorten it up by sliding the ram closer to the valve wouldn't that also move the front bolt too far forward?

I think this solenoid here looks like it'll work. Do solenoids ever have trouble keeping up with a gun?
