powdered smoke grenade

i was looking around for some smoke bomb to use during paintball and other activities. i didn't find anything localy but i did find direction on how to make them. here's what i found.

 

i went to this website and found this video.

supplys

 

-sch 80 3/4" pvc pipe about 14" long or however you want it. (used sch 80 for preventing pipe to melt)

-X2 3/4" end caps

-a funnel to get the powder in the pipe (like a piece of paper)

-a fuse (a string fuse)

-a bag to mix all the ingrediants

-glue (for the end pipes)

-a drill along with a drill bit for the fuse hole

-potassium nitrate (PNO3) (salt peter) you could use Grants Stump Remover -which has a 99% PNO3

-sucrose (aslo knowed as suger)  powdered suger**

-a grinder if useing grants stump remover

1. ok to do this you mix potassium nitrate and suger. thats a 60% potassium nitrate (KNO3) and a 40% suger (SUCROSE) by weight.  

*2. if you grind up the pellets from the grunts stump remover, DONT mix suger in with the PNO3 while grinding.

*3. after messuring, grind out pellets if useing grunts stump remover

4. add the powdered suger and the PNO3 to the bag.

5. mix well

6. glue on one of the end caps to the pipe

7. use the funnel and start filling up the pipe with the mixture

8. as your filling, pack it in the pipe alittle bit (using a marker or a rod or something)

9. when you get near the top, get the other end cap and drill a hole in it that will fit your fuse.

10. insert your fuse and fill around the fuse with the mixture.

11. **glue** the endcap on. NEED TO GLUE

your done!

i'm sorry but i refuse to cook anything that will soon be lit on fire to produce massive amounts of smoke.

Let's just say, a miniature volcanic eruption in the kitchen.

That's mainly because my cousin got impatient and turned the heat up high, though.

I had flash burns on my face, some burns on my arm from the flying slag, and my clothes were burnt up pretty bad, too.  Surprisingly, we didn't do too much damage to the kitchen.

We also used the powder-form mix (as seen in the video) in a glass jar, and it burned a hole through the lid (a metal lid, that is), and completely melted the glass.

That stuff burns insanely hot.

Deffinitly safe for using in the woods...

We had it in a brick-lined firepit.I wouldn't recommend that anyone use this stuff for paintball. Use cold smoke grenades instead, like these.

Yeah, thats what I was getting at, that people shouldnt.

i ordered some potassium from the pharmacy. i should have 6 ounces tom afternoon. i plan on buying a metal tube insted of pvc. that way it wont melt as easy. if i just use the powder and dont heat it, and put it in a metal casing, i should be fine right?

speaking of fireworks...i just watched some last night. it was this place's 25 year....it was on a golf course which was sweet. and the other sweet thing was we were watching this at my pastors house which is right on the golf course. we were really close! there was falling debris from the fireworks. -i think it was the cardboard caseing
