If it tastes like crap, then you had a bad one.
Most red wines are very decent, especially if you are drinking them at their propper age. I started drinking red wine back when i was 18 (legal in this country). Especially if you are using it corectly, and not just drinking plonk to get hammered. Living in South Africa has it's advantages. Around here we get some pretty good Merlot. Also some very good Pinotage. One thing beginers should always try are blends. They aren't always as heavy as the traight up wines. A good starting wine is a Merlot/ Cabernet savignon blend. Generally got for around 40 Cab 60% Merlot. At a dinner party the other night 8 of us polished off 9 bottles of wine, and none of us woke with a headache. KBK |

Wine varies wildly it flavor. Good wine is very good - bad wine is vinegar. But like KBK said - drink it slow, eat, and try an easy wine like a Merlot or a blend. If you drink it like its beer bad things WILL happen, and you are missing out in the process. For later I recommend Shiraz or equivalent. Yummy. |
