tippmann does not. Paintball pistols are more of a mil-sim piece than anything practical in the world of paintball due to the lack of long-range accuracy as well as their bulk and loading times and lack of cheap, expendable ammunition clips.

Tippmann doesnt, but there are some nice options out there if you're looking for one. Check out a PGP, Zeus, or RAP4.

Some look nice. However unless you can get a cool "pistols only" game going then there is really little point to them. In speedball the extra weight and slow ROF would make it useless. In woodsball the lack of range and small capacity is little more then a liabilty. But in a pistols only game where eveyone has the same limits then it would be an interesting game. I want to give something like that a try one day. I'm thinking about the Ariakon ACP, mainly because I like the look. |

The Tiberius 8 is really nice. I've got one and reloading it is quick enough to be something resembling practical. With the aftermarket holster its not too bad to carry around (the extra mags are most of the weight actually) but I bought it more because I love pistols than because it's a good idea. They are worthless in speedball, so-so in woodsball, and might actually get you some kills in some oddball games like real CQB indoors and stuff. The ACP is alright, and I've messed around with a WSP, but the Tiberius really wins as far as pistols go.

I've looked into the Tiberius, but for that price of they couldn't even give it a ten round mag then I'd never pay that. Id rather have a gun that is slightly less accurate and gets more shots for less then half the cost (with three mags instead of 1). Nevermind that the clips for that thing are $40 each. |

I figure a pistol is good for "Oh crap" situations, like when you're being rushed and a ball breaks in your barrel. A pistol could be the thing that gets them down long enough for a team mate to cover you or to clean your barrel. At the last game I played, a friend of mine crawled on his stomach with an old pump pistol and managed to flank a group of three and take one out, without getting shot. I guess if you know how to use one they can be useful in woodsball. But not speedball.

i got a delta .68 and its serving me well. i get 10 shots per clip not much but can save you in the middle of a reload. in fact i used it last saturday after i hit the ground hard. most of leftover paint in my hopper busted open making it nearly useless. my pistol was there to save the day. but a tip, unless your pistol has a hopper and atleast a 9oz tank i wouldnt use it as primary weapon. because when its empty you wont get it loaded fast for a second try. |

I've got a tiberius pistol and as it chrono's nearly as high as my A5 i'd say the power is not a problem. Also while the 8 round mag is not that high, practice using it with the spare in your hand. and practice reloading it standing over a bed. You feel a moron doing it (especially as the wife was watching!!) but it increasing your reload time. I had to use my pistol in a game as my my best friends gun went down and we were assualting a fort. i threw him my A5 (which he caught thankfully) and i continued down the slope with my pistol. I got 3 out that game and we took the fort. The only problem i've had with my Tiberius has been with the holster but i hope i've sorted that though Rap4 do a nice chest rig. Hope this helps. I keep hearing people say that pistols are convenient for when you are reloading your "main" gun. Can't you people reload on the fly? If there are people around, I reload with balls in the hopper and my finger on the trigger. It would take a whole lot longer to whip out my pistol than just shoot them with my regular gun. I'm sorry - but pistols are fun and cute toys and all, but they have just about zero practical use in paintball. |

I'll just go ahead and say you've never played pump before... 1) ALL GUNS HAVE THE SAME RANGE AT SAME VELOCITY (Ignore the Flatline) 2) No, lack of ROF does not make it useless. I play stock class against pros (Roy Richards, Rusty Glaze of Infamous, some people from the old Texas Storm) |

1) Most pistols don't have a barrel or just have a small one, this means they are likely to fly in all directions at medium to long ranges (sometimes less). Though it theoretically has the same range, it effectively won't. Try firing your main gun with no barrel and tell me how effective range is affected. 2) He is talking about speedball not stock class fool. |

you are right it does take longer to pull the pistol out. but not everyone reloads a hopper in the same way you do. my pistol was there when i hit the ground hard and lost the last of my paint. most of it hit the ground but much broke in the hopper. had no paint left just what was in my pistol. it allowed me to continue for a couple minuets untill my hopper took a hit. also have you guys that say the pistols are not accurate ever shot them? i tested you theroy out where i play. a 7 inch opening in a barn about 50-60 feet away. shot 10-15 balls from my tippmann and put aroung 12 in the slot. my pistol holds 10 and i put 7 in the slot. same distance and 7 of 10 is accurate enough for me. but sure if you shoot the cheap paint your accuracy will be horrible even in your primary gun. so if you dont like pistols dont carry one. i have experianced their usefullness first hand and will continue to carry one. |

1. No, I have never played with a pump before. Heck I've never even seen one in real life. 2. Let me re-phrase, lack of effective range. As pointed out most pistols start to suffer from a bad drop-off in accuracy after a certian point, less then you'd have with a full sized gun with a good bore-to-paint match. |

Money spent on pistol = better spent on HPA = no more $$ for CO2 due to all day air = no more running your tank dry = always having air = having a pistol due to air concerns is needless. money spent on hpa over a pistol = increased consistency space used to hold pistol = more space to hold paintballs Using your primary marker with a compressed air system is better than using CO2, and then having a pistol as an addition. As stated by others a pistol is a "neat toy", and can be fun to use, but probably not the most practical piece of equipment to use as a regular setup. Furthmore as far as "neat toys" go, paintball pistols are pretty low on the list of paintball equipment. Edited by Commander_Cool - 29 May 2007 at 2:25am |
