and a you man in a military uniform walks by you, what do you think?

do you have respect? disgust? honor? disrespect? feel sorry? look up to? look down to?

without getting to much into your opinions on war and goverment and all that, and wether your part of the military or not, what do think?

I ask this for 2 reasons,

1. I find that when I see a young man dressed in military clothes or military uniform, I feel sad for them... which is wierd, because I really do respect what the induvidual does, but I just cant shake the feeling like they have all these hopes of becoming some "elite" military force, but infact there chances are they wont and are just going to being used.

2. im bored at work

I don't see much of it, but i come from a family that just about everyone has been in the Military, it seems normal to me, nothing special.

When I see someone walking by in their uniform, I feel sorry for them as you do, Frog Man.

I don't see why you would feel sorry, they signed up for it, so they had to want it.

As a Marine, I think it is retarded to wear your uniform out in town, or wear moto t-shirts. It is basically making your self a target. Thats the way I see it. Its nothing that need be broadcasted openly. The way I see it, a job is a job. The military is just a higher risk job than most.

A lot of the people who enlist are those who can't afford to go to college.  I know that they signed up out of their own free will but from my point of view they aren't fighting  a worthy cause.  I feel sorry that they are risking their lives for the money and patrolling around Iraq waiting for some guy to shoot an RPG at them.

I respect them for what they do for our country, but I almost feel sorry for them because I don't think they're really headed anywhere in life.

And who are you to judge them?

People working a 9-5 office job aren't going anywhere in life, but they're
also not ready to give their life for you.

this is coming from the least republican person imaginable, so don't take
this is as "YEA KILL THEM IRAQIS WOO WOO WAVE THAT CONFEDERATE
FLAG"

I respect them and at the beginning of the war on terror, when my brother had joined, a lot of people would either drive next to us and say thank you for your sons service (sticker saying "my son is in the army"). Sometimes people just walking by at the store when my brother is wearing his class A's, would say thank you for your service. We used to get half off to free entres at restaurants. America has changed since then. Basically a lot of people have changed their minds. Almost worse than how much John Kerry flip-flopped.

I feel a little dead inside when I see that.  I think about how they could be using their lives and how horrible wars are.
