A couple of summer's ago i bought a Proteam Products Sleeper autococker. I don't have a picture, but it can be seen here- http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/369/

Anyhow, since i bought it, it's just been sitting around. I really don't know an awful lot about autocockers and wanted to get you all's opinions on what i should do with it.
Right now all i have on my mind is a regulator (which one?) and a hinge frame(which one?)
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Also, how hard is it to half block?

If money weren't an option--and I really have no clue when it comes to Autocockers--I'd get a Palmer Stabilizer with Ashcroft Gauge and an ANS 90 Degree Swing Frame. That will make your marker look weird and scary!

ANS Frame:
http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/3467/

http://www.ansxtreme.com/pindex.asp

Stabilizer:

http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/online-catalog/stabilizer.htm

Skip the half-block unless you have a good reason. I dunno what half-blocks do besides change the look of the marker.

Ack! no stab no stab!!!!!

Valves:
Shocktech Rat 3:16 $40
AKA Tornado $69

LPR:
AKA SCM-III: $50
Micro Rock: $50-$65

Ram:
Palmer's Quicker Ram: $60

3-way:
Shocktech Bomb: $35
Palmer's Quick Switch: $41

Inline Reg:
AKA 2 Liter: $95
AKA Sidewinder: $75

Bolt:
AKA Lightning (Delrin): $60
Shocktech Superfly (Delrin): $50

Pump Arm:
AKA Straight Arm: $20

Hammer Kit:
Belsales Rex "Dailer" kit: $55
AKA Merlin Kit: $28

Sear:
Belsales Roller Sear: $25
Shocktech Roller Sear: $49.99

Sear Springs:
AKA Matched: $5

Trigger:
Kapp Trigger Plate: $5

Everything else is just for looks.

Oh, and if you're going electro

Frames:
Eclipse E-2
or
RACEgun

Valves:
MQ Valve

Hinge triggers are for people who need to learn to not short-stroke.

That said, there isn't a whole lot other than the valve and inline reg that you actually need to do with a PTP Sleeper. I bet I can get that thing autographed by the PTP guys down the road.

As for half-blocking, that means you chop the front of the valve-chamber off and unless you have a high-flow LP valve and a larger valve chamber like the Merlin 'Cockers do, you're going to have to run at a higher pressure to maintain velocity. It does, however, make the whole setup shorter and thus easier to tuck-in with.

Mid-Blocking is merely chopping the upper tube off and using a custom short-bolt to increase cycling time. Shorter-throw to re-cock/re-chamber = faster cycle rate.

lol

They're fine for 'cockers, but there are better regs out there. Especially if you have the money and time to build a nice one.

AKA=Reg Goodness

The reason you see a lot of people suggest a Stab in here is that they run CO2 very well and make a nice gateway reg that can handle both CO2 and HPA

Steve Davidson is one of the guys from PTP back in the day. He also wrote the Complete Guide to Paintball with a couple other guys. He and I are working with a few others in a 501(c) corp involved with patents in the paintball world. Whenever we get together for the board meeting, I'll let you know for sure if he and the others could get it done.

DeTrevni also knows a ton about A/Cs.

Here's my current 'cocker. I'm picking up my holy-grail in about 2 weeks time. It's an AKALMP Merlin with a RACEgun frame and MQ valve. If you got DT and I in a room together with our new acquisitions, we'd have it painted in minutes they're so fast.

I don't even have all the top-end stuff that I suggested on it. But here's what is in it.

Body/Back Block/Vert Adapter:WGP Limited Run (200) Body with 1 of 1 Anno first gen Black Magic
LPR: ANS Jackhammer II
3-way: Shocktech Bomb
Ram: Palmer's quickram
Inline reg: ANS GenX-II
Valve: Shocktech Rat 3:16
Hammer: Belsales Rex Kit
Springs: Nelson Matched Springs
Sear: Belsales Roller Sear
Sear Springs: AKA Matched Springs
Trigger Plate: Kapp Trigger Plate
Frame: DYE .45 Slider Frame
Grips: DYE Clear Panel Stickies
Bolt: Kapp Venturi
Beaver Tail: Kapp Ring Tail
Cocking Rod: Kapp Twisted Cocking Rod
Pull Pin: Kapp Pull Pin
Barrel: ACI Zero-G Graffiti Series
Trigger-Shoe: Shocktech Trigger Pants

Kapp stuff is hard to find these days as they went out of business. All their gear was geared toward high-end 'cockers and when the market blew-out. Well, they followed.

Here's the milling up close:

:)

BTW: The "half-blocking" you described was "mini-ing." That's where the valve chamber is chopped. Half-blocking is where you cut off half of the upper tube off, find a shorter bolt and actuate it with a sled instead of a back-block. Midblocking is similar, but instead of cutting off half of the top tube, a slit is made in it and a shorter bolt and a sled is used. This works best for people with rarer bodies that wish to have the conversion done, but not ruin the milling on the body. Picture a new-bodied Black Magic.

It's said half-blocking and mid-blocking reduce cyclical mass, improving cycle rate and reducing kick. Fact: A Slik kit is actually even less massive than mid or half-blocking a 'cocker, so if you still want to have some back-block mojo, get a Slik kit.

Nice cocker tallen... ugly but sexy.

I plan to start into the cocker world soon with a superstock or a karni. (Probably superstock)

By the way, has smartparts firebombed your house yet?

Nah, not yet. They're in for a surprise in the not too distant future though.

Dude. Robo, that's the same body as is on my Osiris. It half-blocks well. I may need to keep it...

("it" being the body. The Osiris ain't, and will not, be going anywhere.)

detrevni, you should definately half block it. I love the look of that cocker and the pink/black is perfect for it. I like it because it is small and a different color from the norm.
