i had to take my GFs mustang sn95 (04 with 3.9L)

anyways the dude comes out and hes like "we need to reaim the headlights or we cant pass inspection. its 17$"

1st thought is BS its 3 years old... but whatever

i get home and tell my gf about it and find out the dealer replaced both headlamps 3 weeks ago... no way they are off...

im so sick of mechanics trying or managing to screw people over.

i knew it was crap when he came out because 1 its damn near brand new and 2 where i used to work if the inspector couldent find anything wrong they would say the headlights were off...

anyways the sn95 mustangs look sick but are uncomfortable, hard to see out of and drive like crap compaired to my Grand prix...

edit: the ONLY time a mechanic will ever touch my car is 1 inspection or 2 if i can get it checked for free...(not worked on just diagnosed) or MAYBE if i know the mechanic personally and hes helping me diagnose a problem.

lol thats shady mechanics for you, thats why it's some times better to grab a car book and start learning how to fix things on your own.

I hate pretty much any mustang between like the '70's and '07. The rounded front just doesn't look good on them IMO, i prefer the boxier look.

they said they were gunna fail it. either way 16$ to take it nextdoor and get it looked at or 17$ to have the headlights aimed...

fords are crap cant argue but i grew up on chevy so i know how to work on them. take care of the car and it wont have any problems but if they do have a problem i know how to fix them...

i do all my own work and im starting to do all the work on the stang as well (gfs warranty ran out this month)

agreed with the classic and sn195 (05+) body style but the 04 just makes me tingle a little. i still think my 1968 is sexier though...

I just spent $260 yesterday getting 2 new front tires, alignment, and rotation. Alignment was soooo bad that the front tires were almost bald.

PS-- You should have said "No thanks, I'll do it" and do it yourself.

Most garages would charge a second visit, and inspection fees again if he came back, and probably wouldn't let him readjust the headlights quickly and put the sticker on that day.

Had it been something like replacing the brakes, which is easy, and most garages rake you over the coals for, it would have been worth it to do it yourself and take it back to the garage for inspection the second time...for something little, like a $7 headlight adjustment, you just let them do it and be on with your day.

The man makes a point. You could sue for ten million in emotional damages and probably win.

When I had to have my fuel pump replaced, I went and bought the pump on my own for them to use.

So they said they could not put a warantee on their work. Which was fine because the pump had a 3 year warantee on it anyway.

I didn't realize that mean that they would do a half <poopy> job putting it back together. Now I have to use my odometer to figure out how much gas i have, cause they won't fix what they screwed up without charging me all over again.

if you dont pass inspection they scrape the sticker and put a rejection sticker on it... they can do this for as little as a bad light bulb...

with my and my moms simple gms (buick, chevy, pontiac) my gfs and my stangs (04 and 68) and my little sisters pos (02 stratus)

as soon as im done with school im gunna start going to auction and picking up cheap cars doing a little work and making a buck on the side.

why dont you like ford? IMO ford out does Chevy by a lot. Probably cause i grew up with fords, know how to work on them and all that. Plus i dont really care for GM's cars body styles (if that made any sense).
