Tradewars is back!

Thats right, Shenko is hosting another Tradewars brawl!

For the newbies, Tradewars is an old school BBS doorgame, played in text. Fly around the universe in one of many ships, make profit, try not to get owned by aliens, and blow up other forumers.

To play, if you have windows (not vista), Start, Run, Telnet shenko.homedns.org

On a mac or linux, open a terminal and telnet shenko.homedns.org

Vista doesnt have telnet for some dumb reason, but theres a million telnet clients up for download. I would suggest a nicer one than the windows client anyway, as it doesnt support color.

When you connect, just follow the menu prompts to make a new account. If you get lost in the game, just type ? to see the menu of commands, or type ` (the key left of 1) to talk to everyone connected.

ok, i'll explain some of the game, I enjoy a target rich environment.

If you are ever confused about what to do, type "?"

 a lot of the commands are self explanatory. Don't attack feds, ports, or anything else stronger than you. If you are at the level of destroying feds, then you don't need my help.

Fly around the galaxy, and trade to get money. Destroy other people, or civilians and lower your rep, lower it enough and you become a pirate. Attack pirates to raise rep. Raise it enough, and you can become a fed, and get some cool ships.

When you start out, you will have a planet, name it something stupid, because you don't want to stay here. Find yourself a one-way, thats a sector that only has one entrance and exit, you're less likely to get discovered.

The starport is at Sector 777, and Earth/Terra is at sector 1. Use the starport to buy new ships and stuff, and use Terra, to pick up peoples, and deposit them on your new planets. Build stuff up, to make it a fortified base.

Get yourself aquainted with the menus before you try to go crazy. Beware of Enos, he has laced the whoile place with random mines.
