I'm graduating from highschool on the 7th and as you all know people like to send you money. With my money and some I've saved I will purchusing a new motorcycle. I was wondering what people think about the three models I am deciding from. Feel free to suggest other makes/models. Honda CBR600RR (My favorite)
Yamaha YZF-R6
Triumph Daytona 675

triumph ftw
since im assuming you'll be riding it a lot in the city, you'll really appreciate the midrange torque of the triple |

If I could find a triumph that hasn't been stunted around my area then I would get it, but they're hard to come by. I would just wait till I found one but with me going to Basic in September I'd like to get some ride time in incase I get sent somewhere like japan where I can't ride.
Edit: Am an organ donor, but I'm not into going real fast, or doing stupid stunts, I enjoy riding to ride. And 40 MPG will be nice. People don't beleive me when I tell them this for some reason. lol Edited by Savage93fvss - 23 May 2008 at 12:06am |

The rareness of the triumph is also why I would prefer this bike. But everybody around here rides honda and yamaha so cheap used bikes aren't hard to find.

Triumph.
Please tell us, however, that you have experience on a motorcycle. |

My aunt loaned me her Ninja 250 for most of the summer last year. I know how to ride, but I'm not awesome. I'll be spending lots of parking lot time, and empty road riding before I get very serious.

If I were to go out and buy a bike, I'd probably buy a V-Rod(I hate that radiator though) or the new HD Crossbones. I think I just ruined all of my credibility in this thread if I didn't already. |

Harleys are very nice, but are nothing more than toys. They run on premium gas, and average 20 MPG, at least that's what my dad* told me. I'd stick with a lower-powered crotcher for fun, fashionable functionality. *He owned a 90's model Road King, so I don't know if this information is up to date, but I feel it is.
PS: Go Triumph. Edited by DeTrevni - 23 May 2008 at 12:20am |

Not for us Milwaukee folks. I know some of the folks that designed the V-Rod. A bit controversial at the time, but pretty awesome bike. Don't know as much about the Crossbones. Around here, "bike" means Harley. |

I've got 2grand. Haven't graduated yet but sisters graduated recently and they recieved 2,500 from the same people I sent invitations to. And I only plan on spending 4k but I'll spend 300 on a safety class, and some on helmet and jacket.

Buying an 01-04 bike, these bikes don't hold value well and I have friends that do the whole auction circuit.

Next year for a Graduation my parents have agreed to assist me in the purchase of a new Wrangler Rubicon. That is of course if I maintain over a 3.5GPA and have a steady job.

Jesus christ you get $2500 just for graduating highschool? That's simply insane. If I got any money it was probably like, $50
