Trans Am. Mostly because they are sexy cars. but also the fact that its just as easy to drop a 350ci+ engine as the Monte Carlo and it weighs less.
edit: Im finally getting something new myself here in a few month. 2006 GTO. Imma die but oh well ![]() Edited by ctchofday - 24 August 2009 at 9:57pm |

How's the mileage and such?
I've always liked Trans Ams. |

Mileage fo sho.
Eitherway, I still think the trans am is ugly. I almost bought a newer GTO but the gas mileage would have killed me. |

Terrible mileage? I'm talking about the transam and SS. They look like they're in good condition. Both the same price? We need more info, not just pics, haha.

thought you meant gas mileage. my bad. trans am has 98000 and its a manual transmission for $4000. monte mileage isnt known and is $2500, so it would need work |

Heads up with the LT1: It has optispark ignition. Easiest way to describe it: The distributor is UNDER the water pump. (Its really not a distributor, but google it for a better explanation.) A small leak in your water pump, and your whole ignition system goes out. Then you have to replace the water pump gasket, the opti, and a few other parts. Its not a question of if it will happen, its when will it happen. The Monte looks nice, but with unknown mileage, I'd stay away unless he can prove an engine rebuild. And, considering it is much older, you're going to deal with worn suspension parts (PITA to replace, just did most of the front suspension in my Camaro), Possible rusted brake lines, rotted fuel lines and the like. I'd steer away from both. There has to be better deals than those out there. |

family has had Z28 camaros with LT1 and havent had this problem. as for the monte, i dont think it was an engine rebuild, i think the odometer broke. i know the monte would require some upkeep. most cars that old do. ill probably steer away from the monte, since i dont have that much time to deal with the maintenance of an older car |
