Placing increased tarriffs on imported chinese made tires when the domestic tire manufacturing can not manufacture tires at a rate to replace the supply vs demand equation just means the consumer now will end up paying more for domestic as well imported tires. I have driven through Akron and see the empty parking lot at the tire plants mid week.
Will this new series of tariff increases help or hunder domestic tire manufacture, and our domestic economy, or just switch the primary importer to Mexico? I still do not see any gain, ever since domestic auto plants switched to mexican and canadian plants and the lower import tariff than the Japanese and Koreans pay for thier imports. Why are the prices of Mex and CDN manufactured cars still based on the Detroit union labor rate? $20.00+per hr, Union Rate vs .50 per hr Mex rate, and GM still can not make a profit on the excess. China must of pee'd in Obama's cornflakes for this decesion, wonder what the exact motive is? Union pressure? Sure is not lowering the price to consumer. No...it will not create more jobs, domestic early 20th century manufacturing plants vs newer mexican facilities by the major US manufacturers. Guess who gets the more jobs? And which country and persons gets more money, my money is Mexico and the major manufacturers big wigs.

Lower Taxes in a democratic administration that relies on the dependant class voter to stay in power.....riiiigggghhhht (see ACORN). If anything they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and raise taxes on industry and the actual middle class worker to support all the new proposed programs for the "poor" and pay on thier deficet.

Can't wait to the majority of you wide eyed know everything types actually break free of parents wallet, and try this social experiment without a financial "safety" net. Oh, you will just join those in the "dependant" class and demand that you are owed everthing at the expense of everyone else.

i like how you make assumptions about everyone living off of there parents. i've always had to pay for everything i needed or wanted. yea tires are expensive. always have been. you sitting on here complaining about price raises aren't going to make the tires go down one cent. so stop crying about it. im sure alot of people on here are tired of you always finding something to complain about

Hope and Change...........explain that little catch phrase. Hope is waning, and change too dramatic. The whole of America is not the right and left coasts, the core of the country is a little more resistant to these changes than the administration originally hoped. My guess is they put "flyover" country into the what can they do bad to us files, and now it is reality 101.
