I know, 2 threads back to back, but im bored and would like some info.

Who here wears an expensive watch? As in... $500+. I was recently looking at Movados, but i have small wrists and most dont fit me too well. I do like the simple styling of them though. I want a time piece, and not a dive watch with 9 dials, a speedometer, a radio, a tide table and stopwatch built in.

The model i found is the Safiro, but im still looking around:

Any suggestions on brands/models that kind of fit what im looking for? I might pick up the Movado anyway, but im always open to suggestions.

I would not choose to wear an expensive watch if i was doing any activity that might leave it at the bottom of a lake.

If I had $500 to blow, it would not be on a watch.

I'm a sucker for watches, but much like sunglasses I stick to cheapos. I have probably a dozen Fossils...but inevitably whenever I buy an expensive trinket like sunglasses, watches, or headphones (just dropped $150 bucks on some Bose headphones, waiting on breakage) I break / lose them.
At some point in the future I may become organized enough for a nice Rolex and some Ray Bans, but for now some Aero's and a Fossil / Relic will have to do :P.

The only luxury things I would spend $500 on are headphones, computer parts, and paintball guns.

That watch sort of makes me want to rethink that. Something about spending $500 on something that is PURELY aesthetic bothers me, though.

Gatyr, that movado's MSRP is actually $1695... You can find them for around 8-900 though. Cheapest i saw one was on sale for $575, that was before i decided i wanted it and now i cant find it for that price again.

I don't wear a watch. In the technical service industry, a watch is something to get scratched, or electrocute me. My cell phone is my time piece.

Christ.

When I'm comfortably well off and care more about my wrist than starving children, I'll give that watch another look.

Nope, not in the grand scheme of things its not. But, it is still getting to the "high(er) end" for the price scale of watches.

(edited to make more sense economically)

I can think of much better things to spend $500+ on then a watch.

Then again, at my job where things tend to get broken, bled on, and puked on, $30 is just right.   It tells time and has a second hand, so it does what I need it to do.
