Interview with FE

Whatever you think of him, he's at least a good representation of what we think of in this country when we think of a pro-small gov't Christian conservative, and an asset to the forum in that respect. Although this might be better off in PM format, considering the high average political IQ of this place, it might as well be public. I'd encourage mods to close this if it gets personal or simply ridiculous. My intent here is not to play "gotcha" (we have real debate threads for that ) but rather to figure out the basis for his beliefs. I'm going to keep this in generalities if I can rather than specific modern examples to reduce controversies. I do not mind answering any similar questions from him myself out of fairness. I figure this could be a good exercise for me in being as neutral as possible considering that I want to teach social studies, and to give the guy a chance to explain his political philosophy in a coherent manner instead of us trying to lift it out of his reactions to various modern issues. I'm finishing a Bachelor's in History /Ed with a minor in Poli-Sci for what it's worth, and consider myself to be from a family with mixed political views. Very politically/socially conservative grandparents, socially liberal/ fiscally conservative parents and an education experience that was fairly mixed from what I expected in MA in terms of professors I have had if not the curriculum. Personally I see myself as a slightly more nationalistic Libertarian, since I'm somewhat more pragmatic than Libertarians in general. Although I really have no power over this thread, I'd prefer it if I ask the questions, FE do responses, open for follow-ups, and FE and those who agree with him for rebuttals.

PS- Please play FE, if you want to get people to see your side this is as good of a chance as any, I promise I won't try to Katie Couric you with leading questions (I've hated her style since long before anyone knew who Sarah Palin was) and anything you need to PM me about won't be re-posted to the general forum. This isn't a witch-hunt, I think your viewpoints could be representative of political ideology i don't get to deal with on a regular basis considering my geography, and I think I have tried my hardest to be fair in response to your posts in the past.

First Question: Who is your favorite founding father, and why?

let's see if he'll play along first, I'd like to start with some of the longer-running threads in US political thought before moving forward. It's not like there weren't several schools of thought present in the founding of our republic, I'd like to see what he buys into. If nothing else, he's a great case study.

FE, is there any chance of getting your opinion on Hamilton's economic plan and arguments both for and against before you go into full defensive mode?
