We all play paintball. But do we realize how much it really effects us? Some people may not feel the same way but paintball has become the biggest thing in my life since i started playing. It effects almost everything i do. So far ive written 5 school papers about it and done 2 major projects on it. All the money i get is immediately spent on paintball. When im not playing im thinking about it. everyhitng i do revolves around paintball. I want your opinions on how much of a part of your life paintball has become.

Paintball is actually an incredibly important means of
release/relaxation (lolinnuendo) for me even after maturing as much as I
have. I still don't know if it's because paintball is the only excuse I
have to see my friends in a different city or if the
adrenaline/competition is a stress reliever or what, but I'm noticeably
more chipper when I can play regularly.
But,
Word. This enthusiasm will subside, and you'll grow tired of it or replace it in all likelihood. College, lack of money, friends moving away from the sport, etc. will get in the way enough eventually and it won't be what it used to be, so enjoy it while it lasts. |

I got into paintball late in life. It is restricted to time availability. Too many family functions and house/yard work to be done. I consider myself lucky to get out an play once a month.

What Ceese says. Had a brief run of OMGZ! but that lasted about two months.
Play when I can, hardly have time any more. But replace "Paintball" with "IDPA" and yeah. I know the feeling. Replace "IDPA" with "learning to fight with a gun" and 100%. KBK |

I was the same way back in high school. Then I went to University. Found other hobbies, haven't played in two years. None of my friends here play. Would love to, just can't justify spending $60-100 for a day of play. |

for me it got to a point where it wasn't fun any more. Only time I played was a team practice or a tournament. I just couldn't handle the serious business side of paintball. I'm hoping to maybe go play some open play hopefully by this summer/fall if my knee heals up fast enough.

This. I played since for about 3 years pretty intensely, but as our team got well known and the srs bizniz side took over actually playing I got sick of it. Don't get me wrong the perks of this far outweighed the cons but I realised I liked paintball so much because it was relaxed and I got to shoot people and let off some steam. Now I was obligated to play and i just lost interest after that. Not to mention the **edited**iness and daft politics that was going on the UK scene was a bit of a pain in the proverbial arse. I actually had a couple of games of speedball on Sunday at the field me and a friend are running and it was awesome. That was the first time in probably at least a year.

My first exposure to paintball was in the early 80's. Me and my friend were in a state park in NC and crossed into the part of the park used by the military... Unknowingly. We were walking along on a trail, when this guy fully camo'd with face paint and everything stepped out from behind a tree, and pointed his paintball gun at us, and put up the "shh" motion.
We froze, and about 5 or 6 other guys surrounded us, and then disappeared into the woods without making a sound.
As a kid it was cool, and scary all at the same time. As only later did I realize they were doing a military exercise using paintball guns and we walked right into their camp.
I always wanted to try it.
Fast forward 25 years... and I was back in the woods behind my house, and I remembered that day, and realized I should get a paintball gun. So I got one for my father in law first (knowing that we would follow) and then my brother in law, my cousin, and myself all got them. And we got a friend who had two sons and gear to join us. So we started with 7 players. Today we play monthly in the fall, winter and spring, my next event is on the 23rd. We now average over 34 players per game.
Almost every player that plays at my field, I got into the sport. We have a few that played before, but most use my spare gear (I have 5 complete sets of gear now) and play once or twice, and then they buy their own and get their friends into it.
All of my events are free, and I even furnish water and cookies, and we play from 8:30 am until around 1:00 pm on Saturdays. In the cold, we have fires at both camps so guys can sit around and tell stories between games. Our group of guys is very close knit, and we have never had a fight, or even anyone cuss anyone else out on the field. Our gameplay is focused on honor and integrity. If you are hit, you are out, regardless of break.
Since it is byop, many times guys bring the cheapest paint when they are new. That is why we have a breaks don't matter rule, as cheap paint doesn't break like good paint.
And once they see how much more accurate good paint is... They quickly upgrade.
I have been filming my games since I got my helmet cam in 08. My youtube is "TrailsOfDoom".
This year because of the huge amount of players I have gotten into the sport, Tippmann and Empire sponsored me. Tippmann sent two complete sets of gear, which has been used at each event for new players. And Empire Battle Tested sent me a bunch of Apex barrels, so every one of my borrow guns has an Apex 1 or Apex 2!
My typical player only spends around $20 total per day to play!
Here is a little video of a game we play at the end of the day when most guys had to leave, but we still have a few that don't want to quit yet!

I just sort of fell out of it after highschool, I'm sure at least partially because of not knowing people to play and it being such a pain to go to places that play.
I joined in on some 2 v 2 games last summer for the first time in 6+ years and actually had a really good time. It's something I'd easily do with friends again, but wouldnt be as immersed in anymore. |
