So Rambino v2, who is now almost 8, joined a competitive soccer league last month.  He had been playing rec soccer for a while, and we had resisted the commitment required for a competitive team, but we finally took the plunge.

They just finished a multi-day tournament, and took first place out of 11 teams - final match was this morning.  Very tough matches in the semi-final and final match, but it's a heckuva team.

And - most relevantly, Rambino v2 was the match MVP for the final match.  So apparently he is a pretty good soccer player.

(And I am apparently one of those obnoxious soccer dads screaming from the sidelines until they call the popo)

I am saddened that I was not the first to post this.

We do in fact have one - but it is on permanent ban from everything.  Rambino v3 wouldn't stop blowing on it, all the time, in the house - preferably near someone's ears.

As he plays defense, that doesn't happen too often - although he did manage two on Saturday.

So instead of "gooooaaaaalllll" it's mostly sighs of relief when he makes a play.

You're a very lucky guy. My parents sighed in relief when I didn't screw up a play.

Ironically, we have been practicing hard to lose the spin he naturally puts on the ball, and instead to kick a dead ball.

Indeed - although my particular problem is that this is the first time he is doing any competitive activity where I am not the official coach (or at least assistant coach).  So I lurk withing earshot of huddles so I can hear coach's instructions and yell accordingly during games - because I am yelling very specific instructions, and I would rather not contradict what the coach is telling them to do.

Of course, I have an advantage in that nobody else understands what I am yelling...

But overall, I have concluded that American sports parents are psycho, and I am probably included in that category as well.

That said, it is fun - particularly because he actually is good.

maybe in south arsing africa. Its not laduuuma anywhere else.

'soccer'? Really? You should know better.

Vuvuzelas only appeared at the last world cup and havent been seen/heard since before that we were content with offensive songs and a fight.
