does anyone think it would be possible to manufacture a co2 powered, shot-gun type shell-fed thingy, with shells that could be used for holding multiple paintballs, a water balloon, whatever. i have a design for something like this, just no way to build it...maybe tippmann ordinance could be of assistance....

bingo

first off, the shotgun is not accurate unless at close range. then you want to add paintballs into the mix? double bad accuracy? sure its nice at close range, but by that time, you're shot. there is a barrel/handguard avaliable to look like a shotgun. but you still get one paintball at a time. opsgear.com had it

Interesting idea, but certainly not "stupid" and the idea definately doesn't belong on top of the "Stupid Ideas List"(which is stupid in every way) with the nukes and what not.

I've oftened wanted to have a paintball shotgun to blow into someones chest upclose in a rec-game.  Shotguns would be great and add a different form of play in paintball.

evil turkey... I'm all for your idea!

Because I can.

Yea I think its called the Thunder Grenades, The latest version being a simple and somewhat more better design since it Fires 4 .68 caliber paintballs instead of tons of mini paintballs.
But The firing system is different compared to other launchers since the the CO2 is held in the shell, go figure you need to spend more money for the Thunder grenade Charger and a 12 oz bottle of CO2 for 30 charges before the tank needs to be refilled. And you need to buy a launcher built for it

So the its about 80 bucks for one Shell, 30 for the Charger, 15+ for the Co2 tank, and 180 and up for any of the launchers desgined for it and then any of the paintballs needed to fire. so its not cheap, And some fields I think Are trying to move away from the Scatter shot to Nerf Rockets becuz of the whole Insurence safety issue. Though I heard the 68 calliber one I mention above can fire nerf vortex rockets.

The only other close solution is the 600 doller and up Double Barrel Typhoon from Palmer...... which Fires 2 paintballs per pull of trigger

ok,i finished drawing up the designs, and the shells will also be able to hold nerf rockets, so it is no longer a shotgun only. imagine a full-auto nerf rocket barrage :P if i ever get the funds to build one ill kick all of your asses.

A lot of you don't know much about shotguns. Monk, Nutterlax and Millslane. I think it's a worthwhile idea but needs lots of development.

I have not seen the paintball shotgun you speak of, however the shotgun should be just as effective at further ranges as your marker
(past surrender distance). Since all of your shotgunning experience is probably from video games, I will clear a little up for you. A slug through a shotgun is actually not half bad with accuracy. Shotguns are made for hitting moving targets. The "spread" makes up for your inaccuracy, so you actually have a better chance to hit with the shotgun. The spread is actually not that wide, and also not a flat spread out sheet, but more of a 3-D cloud of projectiles that holds pretty tight but can be adjusted through choke. It not only has to do with choke - A 12Ga with 00 Buck shot will spread about 4-8 inches at 10 yards, and AA turkey shot will spread by almost a couple feet at that distance.

Some friends of mine tried experimentally shooting one of themselves with a grape shot round of paintballs in the potato cannon. So a buddy of mine covered himself in padding and PB masks and took it to center mass from the cannon. Dumb idea. Instead of spreading out over the 50 feet, the balls grouped tightly and knocked him back onto the ground, he had a HUGE bruise on his right chest/shoulder. I would be afraid this thing would take your head off, but who knows what the velocity was. CO2 would be much better.

Think and give them all you have from the beginning, and never weaken!

nick, i have more experiance with  12 gauge then playing video games. i hunt. clean them, i reapsir them, i'm not 14 years old.  i understand how the shotgun works. how are you suppoed to produce the spreading effect in the marker? with paint filled airsoft bb's inside some sort or capsul that releases them flying as accurately as possible. ok, that might work. but what happends to the capsul? how does it make its way to the out of the chamber? seems like too much effort. just buy the shotgun handguard from opsgrear and be done with it. you get the look and the feel still.

Fully Functional Paintball Shotgun = bad idea

Are you planning on having a hopper full of nerf rounds or what.

Theres no way in hell you can have a barrage of nerf rockets. By teh time you fire the first and stick the next down the launcher the first will have already landed.
