i have a linksys router and it is a piece of crap. it slows down and almost stops my internet flow or connection(whatever you want to call it) half the time when im trying to do something on a page i have to refresh it like 3 times. before the stupid page loads, and it started doing this after i got the god damn thing, its such a pain in the ass, i think i mgiht package it up nice and tightly and then find the idiot who made it and throw it at his head.
anyone use linksys and like or dislike them? PS-i phoned there customer support and in roughly 45minutes on the phone with a service rep, i got nowhere. no one at the linksys help center speaks english whatsoever, none of them qualified enough to be allowed to even use a phone in a country thats primarily english speaking. |

It seems just like any other wireless router I've ever connected too. If you want such an amazing connection, you have to sacrifice mobility and plug in.

hey, squishey, you wireless? if so, do you have WEP encryption running? if not, someone's probably piggy-backing your connection.

Also bit torrent kills routers. Try making yourself a DMZ on the router. You lose the firewall protection but you get sped up. |

I spent all this money on a lynksys router, cat5 cable about 4 years ago, used it for a few weeks, then had internet connection issues. Tried again just recently to hook it back up and the same deal. Waste of money for me since I dont have the computer smarts to keep it working correctly. |

It's amazing what all you can learn from just reading the stuff in there.

My Wii, my G/F's computer, her brothers computer, and her Dads computer all use, Linksys... We've never had even a hick-up up for Bad connections.... you must of errored on something, the only problems we somewhat have is that sometimes Cookies will slow it down from time to time... but with two clicks it's all better... I don't know why, but if your running to many Anti-Virus Scans, that may slow it down(AKA: Norton).

The only problem I've had with mine is the fact that I have to reset it about once every two or three days....The wireless card I got with the router for my laptop completely boggles my mind though....I reformatted the thing a while back and when I reinstalled the card it started just disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. I tried everything I can think of and I still can't figure that one out....It may be the laptop though cause it's doing some other weird crap too, like not letting me activate windows....So I don't know....Quite frustrating though...

The only problem I've run into with Linksys routers occurs when we have a lot of people on the wireless and hardwired at the same time. You could download a freeware MAC Scanner and see if anyone else is leeching off your wireless.
edit- You could also try updating your firmware. Edited by Benjichang - 29 January 2007 at 11:23am |

I put one in at my dad's house to run my stepbrothers and my dad's work computer off of. So far I have not got a call to come fix it yet.

I've not had a problem using Linksys products ever since Cisco bought the product line.

I have the problem of having to reload a page every now and then, but
it really isn't that big of a deal. Also, my stepdad will complain
about the main computer's speed every few weeks, but not often enough
to demand that I fix it.

I have had nothing but the best from my linksys router, but having my wireless really kills the router speed. WPA encryption with my own password and whatnot on the wireless. It helps to not run a ton of internet leeching programs, and to have a decent computer / browser.

Linksys isn't too bad for me, sometimes it doesn't work and wants to
disconect but it normally works and when it's working its always pretty
fast.
