Why would I want to learn calculus?
You need a TL;DR: "Want to learn about something you will never use?" |

On the contrary. Calculus is something to use all the time. I guess you don't really care about why things work, just that they do work? |

Calculus is in constant use. Acceleration and velocity, for instance, are calculus-required concepts. To gain a proper understanding of how things speed up and slow down you need calculus.

I watched a few minutes of me and it was some what above my head. I'm sure if I focused more I could get a better understanding, but I'm rolling out soon...plus I just don't feel like it.
Speaking of math, I took my Alg II midterm earlier. Meh, was alright. Completely bombed my Chem midterm after it though. |

I suck at pre-cal. I pass with 70's almost all year. I shouldn't even be passing but my teacher is nice.

I will probably never use Calculus directly at least, but many concepts in the health sciences are derived from calculus, and it sometimes helps to know where things come from. I don't remember much from calc anymore, but I have an appreciation for that kind of thing.

You might be surprised. I use calculus on a regular basis in my (non-technical) job. |

Well I guess you guys are lucky. Probably at least 40% of my job will be dealing with calculus, if not more.

Just cause you're in the military doesn't mean that the rest of us won't need/ use real life skills.

calculus is neat... but even me, who's good at math, couldn't learn from this guy.
too fast... and just seems to throw the rules out there w/o showing examples. |

If you ever go to sniper school you will need calculus. You won't like it, but you will need it. So some people in the military, actually do need "real life" skills. Even if those skills include the most efficient means of taking one. |
