So, in case you haven't seen it, Ford has been doing some "real" world interviews with actual Ford buyers.

And one interview yeilded a message that talked about Ford NOT taking government bailouts (which can be debated as they took "special" loans).

It was a hit among conservatives, and the white house contacted Ford and they actually PULLED the ad from youtube!...

Here is one that was recorded from TV, so you can see it, now that it has been silenced by the ministry of truth...

I heard the guy interviewed on Hannity's radio show yesterday... Wow, has this guy had it rough over the past few years... He lost his dream home after his wife lost her job, they were foreclosed on (even after doing everything they could to try and save their home. They downsized, sold all of their toys, and the truck he now owns is leased for $220 a month based on Fords special financing for people in his situation...

AND yet. is he bitter? Nope, just working his tail off to try and make things better.

So Ford decided to run this commercial. Now you guys probably don't know how TV works, but as an actor/spokesperson (which is what this guy is after this started running, he is an actual owner, and those are his words, but in advertising when you are the "face" of a product like that, you get paid based on how many times the ad airs).

So by the white house clamping down on this ad... They are actually taking money out of this guys pocket...

Unreal...

But, so typical of this thin skinned administration... Course what do we expect from a community agitator like ØbamAA++?

Anyway, Ford is now saying that this was just the "rotation"... which is a pile of garbage, as the other ads dropped at the same time are all still on the air... AND still on youtube...

ONLY THIS ONE was removed...

AFTER the white house got involved.

Liberals always want to pick winners and losers... It is what they stand for, and the foundation of their platform.

I wonder if FE keeps "  ØbamAA++ " on a notepad so he can just copy and paste it on his posts. But in that case I wonder if he has a large clipboard on his computer so he can copy and paste all of his copypasta...

Credibility.

So was Ford under any legal obligation to pull the advertisement?

Also could this be a truth in advertising issue, where since they took loans they are misrepresenting themselves to the public? I don't know your advertising guidelines, but that could be an issue here.

Ford didn't take the same bailout package that Chrysler and GM took.

They openly lobbied with Chrysler and GM for the bailout with the agreement that if Ford ever needed the bailout they could have it, essentially agreeing that some would be set aside for them, but they never ended up cashing the check, so to speak.

Yeah I know they went a different route, just wasn't sure if the problem might have been with the wording and deceiving the stupid masses. Not saying that is it, just curious if that could be an issue there. Doesn't really sound like it, so probably not that.

There are claims by Ford executives that there were phone calls from the White House, and then the claim about just the rotation schedule, where is the truth, I would bet somewhere in the middle.

Now with the UAW calling for strikes at Ford Dearborne a covert attempt to 'level' the playing field between the failing GM production facilities, and the more successfull Ford facilities, there seems to be some merit in the administration 'presure' for Ford to play nice and concede.
The Admin and UAW have a vested interest to 'punish' Ford, and prop up GM, so the UAW strike threat is a leverage tool.

If I were GM I would immediately move production to 'right to work' states, and let Detroit, UAW and the Administration pound salt.

I still find it interesting that in order for a worker to have 'rights' he must pay a monthly 'fee' to work in a Union shop, and commit his 'fee' whether he agrees or not, to all of the Unions political ideology. Now the Feds go after the mob for tactics like this, but yet are part and parcell to the unions doing the exact same thing.

Nebraska is a right to work state, and pay and benifits are on par with Union states without the Union shakedowns.

Buying a inferior product, only because it was made here? That's American? That sounds like socialism/communism.

I'll spend my hard earned money on a Nissan.

My KIA Sorento is made in Georgia, USA.

Actually, regardless of the argument, Ford is putting out great products now.

Although it may be silly nationalism, please explain how it's either socialism or communism?

I'm sure nationalism was the word I was looking for. I have heard all 3 terms thrown around so much, I can't even remember. Thanks whale. Big smile

Ford makes a great frame and body. I will give them that. But seeing as I don't live where it snows, nor do I offroad. It doesn't really matter to me.

My 2000 Ranger held up well for having 200k+ miles on it.

The clutch was just about dead when I traded it. I can't blame that on Ford though.

The things that died on it over time were: The two valves and accompanying sensors that let it the engine idle blew up, those cost about $350 to replace. The thing that sits on the rear axle and spins so you know how fast you're going died, that was $35.

That's about it for the five years I had it.

Oh, and the rubber seal on the third brake-light dry rotted in the sun and leaked water into the cabin. I learned that one day when it rained, and it was raining inside my car too. Some automotive caulk from AutoZone fixed that.
