Sucks, RIP. He was defintely a business icon in this country, it's a shame he didn' get to enjoy his success longer.
INB4 Bill Gates is still alive therefore MS wins.

That's a bummer.
I'll say this, which I attempted to say on Facebook: I don't know what it is like to have a brain like that - to spend your whole life looking at society and seeing what should be going on rather than what is going on. My research deals with societal change as the result of communications technology. And Steve Jobs contributed a whole lot to that field.

It's a 2' square white box. Nobody is sure how to get the body in there yet but functionality was never a factor anyways. It is shiny. Edited by carl_the_sniper - 06 October 2011 at 12:08am |

There's no denying he managed a hell of a turn around for Apple. I have a hard time calling him a technical innovator, but he definitely had amazing vision.
I find it a little tacky that it was Apple who announced the death, but that might just be me. RIP, Steve

I thought unemployment was already bad enough, but losing Jobs like this takes it to a whole new level.

I've been a huge supporter of Apple since the 80's... I even purchased hundreds of shares of AAPL when everyone thought it was done for in the late 90's for $12.00 a share...
I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of apple gear over the years, and my company is full of apple products, that I recommended...
I have never purchased a single apple product... Not one...
RIP Mr. Jobs, the way you made i into a brand and fiercly protected that brand has been amazing to watch.

I never drank the Apple flavored kool-aid, but several around me have and are pretty loyal to the brand. Unfortunately, I got the feeling that Jobs was really the main force behind keeping Apple viable and wonder if it will be able to continue or die out within a decade?

I wonder that too.
I think the next few years will really show whether they sink of swim, given that they're truly deprived of his skills now. |

After Jobs is buried, Apple will sue every coffin/casket maker that makes a similar coffin/casket in which Jobs was laid to rest. |

As far as the tech user market, I'd say so.

From everything I've read, unlike his last departure from the company, Jobs pretty much stacked the board and designer groups with people who thought like him.
