I have heard of the effects of mentioning The Notebook to a woman.  Before, I doubted such effects, but now, I doubt them no longer.

So, I'm hammered.  I'm talking to this amazingly hot girl.  For some reason that I no longer recall, we bring up romantic situations.

I say some random, cliche crap, and mention The Notebook.  Immediately she says "OMG The Notebook!?"  To which I reply "I just happened to say the first type of movie that came to my head!" (trying to get myself out of talking about The Notebook because I have never seen it, thus really don't want to get into conversation about it)  She doesn't buy it and insists that I love The Notebook and that I am the most awesome guy ever.  Any doubt that she was totally into me before this point is completely shattered.

Even though her boyfriend is passed the hell out 5 feet away,  I could totally hook up with this girl.

Unfortunately, this thread is completely anti-climatic because no, I did not hook up with her.  She ended going upstairs to talk to my roommate about his ex-girlfriend.  They can both go die in a fire.
 
Though, there is a moral to this story - whether you have seen it or not, in the presence of a woman, mention The Notebook where ever applicable.

I am a better man for this experience and you should be too.

Even though you'd probably just be shuffled into the friend-zone because just by mentioning the Notebook, she probably thinks you're gay.

I lol'd so hard at that. Anyway, I don't think she's "into" you the way you think she is. It has been my experience that girls will literally kill people to get a gay friend they can go shopping with, as well as watch The Notebook with. Sorry mate, but I think you just friend-zoned yourself.

I have a friend who's gay, all of the hot girls from school go shopping with him, and dress and undress in front of him.  They let him be in the room while they shower, and as him occasionally if their boobs feel right. 

I'd be more than happy to have one girl think I was gay.
Of course it could backfire...

The only thing I liked in that whole movie was his Ithaca '37. Beautiful firearm. I believe I will be inheriting my grandfather's sometime later in life.

You're only a douche if you are trying to hook up with your buddies girlfriend when he is passed out. If he isn't a friend, she is fair game and you are a good samiritan for offering to give her a ride home. Rule #4 of the Bros before Hos handbook.

Unfortunately, as soon as you mentioned the Notebook and she thought you watched it and liked, it she has already put you in the gay man-friend category and you had zero chance of scoring. Unless she is the type that thought she could turn you.

Am I the only one that thinks boyfriends and girlfriends aren't permanent? Seriously, some of you guys act like it means they are married or something. No ring, no commitment. As long as he's not a friend of yours, I'd do it.
