Welcome to the forum. Hopefully this thread won't get locked because of the thread title.
Silencers are illegal. Besides they really don't work on paintball markers because the object of a silencer is to quiet supersonic gasses and projectiles (bullets). Since a paintball is going less than 300 fps, it is already subsonic and therefore unnecessary. A lot of people think they can use silencers on paintball markers and they are wrong. Silencers are on a federal list that requires a license no matter what it is used for. Again, welcome to the forum. |

As stated above silencers are illegal. The closest thing you will come to is a fake suppressor for mil-sim guns that do not silence the gun but do make it look pretty. Welcome to the forums. |

Silencers aren't illegal, atleast from my memeory of the long
debate. The one guy owned everyone with the actual legal document
saying that you need a class 3 license or whatever only if it uses an
explosion propellent. Somthing along those lines.

OMG, here we go again. The legal limit of noise suppression is 3db. This means that you can reduce the noise of firing by half and still be legal. A paintball gun does not meet the definition of being a firearm and so the Class III licencing does not apply. However the law is interpreted by each county in the United States differently. If you are worried about it being legal in your area, contact your local sheriff. If you don't ask you will never know. |

Nope, its federal. It has nothing to do with it being a paintball gun. The problem comes in because the silencer MAY have silencing capabilities on a real firearm. Hence the Class III firearms crap.
And if it was legal to do, why did the guy that got one the legal guy not get laughed right out of the building. |
