.....The President should give a crap what the American people think?  I ask this because I just heard another one of those "I don't care what you think, I know I'm right" quotes on tv and it seriously ticks me off. Do these people not know that they are public servants? They work for us! We gave them their jobs! Arrogence.....

Or firm resolve, what do you think?

ps
I'm not whining, I'm just making a thread about rather or not our national leaders should care what we, the people, think.....

Meh, the American People elected him. By electing him, we basically said that we like how you are running the country, and agree with your beliefs.

Why does he need to care what we think? The man claims he speaks with god and he tells him what to do.

The only way that can be said if the election was a mandate, which it wasn't. Not even close. he just treats it as if it was.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

I do support Bush on some issues(eves dropping) and some things I don't support(caring about the Iraqis freedom). I do believe that he is a better leader than John Kerry. Just because one man isn't that great doesn't mean that the other guy running against him is so great.

It's been changed jackass.

Yeah, but most of the time in politics it's picking the lesser of two evils. I most definately thin John Kerry was that, especially in hindsight......

I'm sure you would think differently if you lived in Iraq.

I don't know why we spend so much money on restoring a 3rd world country. Who cares I think the American people should see some of those trillions of dollars.

As a Canadian I will say that I dont really have the best of ideas about the American government and its workings. But I'm pretty sure Bush and his advisors have better incoming intelligence then lets say... you do. I'm also sure its not the easiest of tasks to make desisions that will not only effect your country but will could also have global ramications.
You know the saying 'Cant please everyone all the time'? Try pleasing an intire country? By all means I'm not defending Bush, just saying that its a tough job to lead a counrty.

There certainly is some logic to that approach, but you must remember that those other countries aren't that far from here.  It's a small world.

Query, for instance, whether we would be having the current terrorism problems if the Middle East were more prosperous?

Query whether the US would be as prosperous as it is if Europe had been left in shambles after WWII?  The Marshall Plan was arguably the best investment ever made by the US.

You can view foreign aid as charity, or you can view it as an investment.

Investing in future global prosperity is one thing but there is certainly no Marshal Plan going on in Iraq right now and I expect that any kind of investment in the mideast that would work out as well as ours in Europe did would have to be very very big.......But hey, if we get that all taken care of maybe we can start on Africa....

I was being sarcastic about Paul Martin. I know it's hard to lead a country, it's hard to lead 10 people let alone millions. I know Bush has more Inteligence then me but, was jus saying i do not agree with most of there ways and beliefs. For exemple if i was alowed to vote in the next election i wouldn't vote becasue i do not have the same beliefs as Steven Harper or any of the other polotitions runnigs in the up comming election. This is comming from a 13 year old, let alone what some of the adults in our country think.
