I want your opinion on the 2 types of game play. I personally think speed ball is one of the stupidest things ever created. Whenever you watch or play a speedball game, all everyone does is just sit there, usually with an automatic, pissing away all their ammo and money by shooting near a bunker where someone is hiding and not eliminating them. Then a lot of the Speedballers talk garbage about how they used 500 paintballs to get one guy out.. Woodsball is better in my mind because its in more of a natural milsim environment and I dont have to buy 2 cases of paintballs for a day of playing it.

Lol, I'm not really bad at it, its just that the "pros" use so many paintballs, I use about 1/4 of what they do.

Speedball, at my young age, has given me the opportunity to have experiences a lot of less fortunate people never get to do, and for a lot less money than it usually costs too. To simplify it down like you did, AND to come at it from such a biased point of view not only draws credit away from your argument, it sort of makes you look bigoted and stubborn.

I'm just giving my opinion, I just don't see the point in wasting my money on speedball, I never said I didn't have fun playing, but it is retarded. And how are you an Air Force Pilot at 20 years old, is that just what you want to do, because I want to do Security Forces.

So does the fact that you use 1/4 the paint of what we do make you better?
Also, what USAF said. you watch bad paintballers if all they do is sit there and shoot near a bunker. Your opinion on it being a waste doesn't mean it is. In my mind sitting behind some trees is a waste. Edited by jmac3 - 20 July 2009 at 5:46pm |

Speedball is a lot more fun to watch than woodsball. I find they are equally fun to play though. Each has strategies of their own.
But yeah, if you watch the noobs that just sit and wait to be shot, then your opinion is flawed. |

You aren't watching very good games. Speedball is very much like chess. If you get a key bunker, you can shut down a 1/4 of the field. And the constant shooting prevents other players from moving and gaining an advantage. Sitting and being bored is more woodsball than speed. I get bored in the woods, so i'm usually the guy Rambo-ing it and charging the other team. I'd rather sit on a chair and be talking with people than laying and waiting in woodsball.

really the only thing different between the two is the environment in which and speed at which each is played.
trees = bunkers, make the field smaller, divide game time by 10 and you have speedball. the tactics are relatively the same: get a better angle on the opponent or get/wait for them to mess up and take them out. the amount of paint used has no relevance really, its just the way the game is played. a faster and tighter game requires one to shoot more paint. a slower game doesnt have this requirement especially when the players are as spread out as they usually are in woods games. though, ive seen plenty of woods players "waste" just as much paint as a speed player, and ive seen a speed player (and i myself at times) use only a handfull of paint and still win the game. So to call one stupid is calling the other stupid, in a sense. Not being able to handle/play the other, does not equal it being stupid. "Smack" talking is present in all sports and their variants. No one is making you shoot/buy that much paint. I'll end this by saying i love both just the same. |

GUYS.
Guys, something terrible has happened. There was a terrible accident. Oh God, how could I have been so stupid. Look, I'm going to try and explain it the best I can: I tired making a time machine on the Internet. Nothing special, just something to travel in and see how people thought back in the day, on sites with no good archive, like this forum. Then I pushed it too far. Oh God, it is was terrible. A massive explosion. Bodies everywhere. The end result was that I sent the forum back to 2001. That's why a 14 year old is on the forum making a woodsball vs. speedball argument. Soon, he will probably say that paintball wasn't meant to be played in a bright jersey. He will probably use the term "paint hose" too. It's also the same reason there is a petition thread swirling around to try and keep paintball from being OMG BANNED! somewhere. Guys, I am sorry. I will try and fix this as soon as possible. In the meantime, just remember: paint knives are not real, the Hellhound is not for sale, and you know what to do about paintball snipers. Good luck. God speed. |
