the girlfriend smokes

My girlfriend smokes. I never thought it would bother me at first, but after 8 months, it's really starting to get to me. I'd really like her to quit, but I know the choice ultimately lies with her. I don't want to break up with her. I don't want to try to change her, but it's been bothering me to no end. We've really been moving into a serious relationship over the last few months, but every time I bring up smoking, she just gets pissed off. I tried telling her how I felt today, and she ended up walking away. I really don't know what to do. If this relationship is going to go anywhere, I can't be living with a smoker. Advice? 

My last gf smoked. I didnt know till after we started going out. We went out for lunch with some friends. One started smoking, then she started too, and I was like "wait...you smoke???"

What type of smoking? I just need to be clear because I can only provide expertise in one type of smoking.

Cigarettes. Occasional pot smoking doesn't bother me, since I smoke a bit here and there. (and so does my girlfriend) Smoking cigarettes on a daily basis is what I'm talking about. It's gross.

Yeah.. I wouldn't try. Cigarettes on occasion aren't bad but daily is over doing it in my books.

Not gonna start on pot.. dont wanna detract from the topic.. but:

If you smoke pot.. then why do you care if she smokes cigs?

Thats like a Cop saying dont do something, and they do something almost exactly the same...

Joints aren't addictive, they give you a high, and they(IMO) are easier to get the smell off then cigarettes

I hate cigarette smell more then anything.

Cigarettes smell, and are more addictive then heroine(spelling?), they don't even give you a high either, until you're addicted so much you need one to "relax," which is all mental IMO.

Both are ridiculously expensive... more so weed then cig's.

But i would break up w/ her if she's not willing to at least talk about it, that's selfish, immature, and pretty much shows she cares all about herself and couldn't give a rats *** about you. 

Now if she's willing to change, it'll take time, like maybe a cigarette less a day(donno how much she smokes).  Nicarette helps a lot too.

My girlfriend smokes. I smoke. But its only on occasion like 1 or 2 a week.
