Can't. A paintball traveling at 280 feet per second has the same trajectory no matter what marker it's shot out of.

However

A flatline barrel creates backspin on the paintball adding aerodynamics that keep it afloat longer.

To answer your question, get a flatline.

i beg to differ, on the webdogradio.us video, one of them has to do with range.  almost every marker shot the same except 2 markers, which were both pump i believe but im not sure if they were pump or semi.

anyway the only way to increase distance with a reasonable fps is the flatline barrel

The only way to increase range with your 98 Custom is the flatline. You may get some distance by turning your velocity up but the limit on most fields is 280 Feet per second. Since a paintball is generally a spherical object, it does not fly through the air very well. It creates a lot of turbulence in the air around the ball slowing it down. With the flatline after the ball leaves the chamber it goes into a sudden upward path at around 200 mph. After it leaves the barrel it begins to spin backward creating "lift" affect much like the way an airplane takes off. Now that the paintball has this "lift" it will travel longer, increasing the range. Hope it helps.

ok four people telling me to get a flatline doesn't help
the problem is my gun is being out performed by cheaper guns. mainly piranhas and brass eagles. and the hammer( a old pump) people are nailing me when i cant hit them. all these guns are stock.

So try a Lapco Bigshot then.  The reason why four people told you to get a Flatline is that changing your barrel is the only option.  If you have a stock barrel on your Tippmann you can try polishing the inside.  There is a howo on http://www.model98.net

Edit:

Hmm the barrel polishing information is no longer there.  Well I am sure you can do a google search and find some tips to polishing your stock barrel.

i have my velocity all the way up. i'm not sure i'm reaching 150ft. i bought my gun refurbished not new so i think there is somthing wrong with it. it also tends to double shoot. it is stock except for a armson steath barrel.

What do you mean you have the velocity all the way up, like over 300 fps?!?!? If so, you should be kicked out of all paintball arenas.

Tippmann's have been known to have a max velocity of 350 fps and many times up to 400 fps. That is just plain dangerous. Turn it down!

Well i give him the benifit of the doubt that he is test firing it where no one can get hurt, but if you seriously have it all the way up and arent gettin anything then there has got to be something wrong with it internals or just a leak
