    Posted: 13 August 2004 at 2:36pm

I've read alot of stuff on this forum about the idea of a tippmann pistol, and I've heard all the nay-sayers claiming a pistol is pointless but there is one thing people seem to be forgetting about. The fact is most people who want a pistol aren't looking for a backup they are looking for a main gun to use when there low on paint, or short on cash or are playing a role in a scenario where a pistol would fit nicely. So what would be so wrong with tippmann making a pistol? The pistols out there even though some of them stink sell very well, and I think its a novel idea having a reliable pistol with bullet proof customer available to the masses. To borrow a phrase from someone else, Ustilago.

you just described a backup gun, and as for the low on cash thing, most pistols are just as expensive as a 98 custom

If someone were to make a pistol, they should make it cheap and easy to use. None of this 200$ zeus thing.

Low on cash would throw the phantom idea out the window, for a nicely setup one your looking at what $200 plus?

How is what I described a backup pistol?Defining back up as gun your carrying along with you and your main gun for when your stuck between reloads or your other gun goes down?

Some people just want to take a decent pistol onto the field, is that to much to ask? Without paying $600+ for a squall or micro squall? I'm talking about people who want to play with solely a pistol, call it stockclass semi if you will. Why should the only decent choice be offered by Armotech or its affilates? I'm eagerly awaiting the return of the sidekick semi.

Pistols can be good main wepons in senarios. Mostly for spies, turncoats, and officers.

I love the idea, I love everything tipmman. The durable, performance, and inexpensiveness. The pistol would be a good idea for those players whom want something hand when their paint or CO2 or nitro run out, just to stay in the game or to give them a little time

Is it really so much to ask for a decent pistol? and better yet give it the tippmann backing? I've heard many rumors about a tippmann pistol, and I've been waiting for any type of verification. oh and evil_fingers, I am working on my own pistol design.

Ah yes just create one for myself, then I run into that money problem again and the lack of know how with machineing equipment, not to mention I don't have a machine shop handy. Sure I've got ideas but no resources.

Blue hopper knows exactly what I'm talking about, try concealing your A-5 or M-98 in a set of cammies while escorting your General. Besides pistols are loads of fun, especially if its a pistol only game of some sort.

I don't think its to much to ask for a decent pistol, I have been on this campaign if you will for a little over 2 years so forgive me if I seem a bit frustrated with the industry. Come on tippmann where ya at?!?!

my god... I have to see this...

Anyway... If you want a pistol so bad, but you dont want to spen $150 on a Zeus, why don't you get a PGP? Thier getting cheap now - only about $90. Even less if their used... They are a lot like tippmanns (and cockroaches, for that matter): ugly, they just refuse to die, and their probibly most likely to survive a nuclear blast....

Most importantly - People suck.

I'm really looking for something thats semi-auto, I have enough pistol sized pumps already. The PGP is a good choice though, at least the old one. If I wanted to go new in that situation I'd part with less bones and pick up a sidekick stock.

Enos Shenk, I would very much like to see new things and ideas hit the market, I have some ideas of my own but alas I lack resources. I hope you fare better then me.

There's more pistols than just the Zeus. There are PT Extremes, PGP's, Sydarms, and more. Of course, the PGP is a pump, the PT sucks, and the Sydarm costs a fortune. I've heard some fairly good things about the Zeus though.

There's also a closed-bolt semi pistol called the WSP out soon I believe...
A-5 (soon to add an RT)
Palmer Male Stabilizer
Check It Uni-Mount
Macroline instead of SSH
Lapco 8" Bigshot
98c to A-5 Thread Adapter (I ordered the wrong-threaded Bigshot!)

I've got a Zeus G1 and I paid roughly $100 for it. I also bought a Cops 911 holster for it. For the price of a fancy barrel I have a marker that's accurate to about the same distance as an A-5 (I have 2) with a stock barrel. Pistols are really fun. And it's kinda SWAT to pull one out as your A-5 or Custom 98 runs out or starts to chop balls.

Evil_fingers

I've thought plenty about making a pistol for myself, don't have the time or energy and rather be playing then sitting in the shop. But if you want me to design one "fer" myself I will and you can build it for me. If thats not to your liking stick it.  Are you just trying to be a dummy? Why are you so ignorant?

Whos bein ignorant, if you want a semi-auto pistol, then go buy one, why wait till someone creates another one, they all work they same way, theyre no diffrent from the other and the only difference is the name and the price tag.
