ok - the best to answer this would prob be people with 98c and a-5's do you guys think the a-5 is more problematic and has more side effects then the 98c - im assuming if so it would probaly pertain more to teh cyclone hopper if anything..- its nice having what seems to be a decent-good hopper already with it but what i dont like is its teh only hopper available for the a-5 - i was advised it may break easier as it has more parts..but do you think a 98c with an electronic hopper would be better comparing it yo your usage of the a-5 and cyclone - or would a electronic hopper be just as sensitive..i dont know..ithinking electronic..running around the woods..generally dont sound like they mix..but thats why im asking..
any other side effects that you can think of or have experianced - as far as the physical marker goes it seems to be the same mechanics as the 98c - only other downside is it from waht i heard it uses more air as the air powers the hopper i beleive..please correct me if i am wrong.. i dont know much about the hopper - tippmann doesent have a replacement price on the site if needed -
imcurrently more into woodsball and scenerio playing so id be crawling around alot..

well having been closely related to 98c's for a long time (meh best friend has had one for 2 years and meh brother has one now) and i own an A-5 i will tell you very confidantly that the A-5 has no more problems than the 98c with the exception of i have heard of the cyclone feed messing up after being hit well Tippmann will replace it and you better believe its worth having it anyway and i would definately suggest the A-5 over the 98c not that i think you could go wrong either way but its EXTREMELY hard to out shoot the cyclone feeder even with the E-grip I also think that the cyclone feeder is a better deal than an e-hopper bc it is cheaper and considering you play woodsball (thas what i play) i doubt seriously that you need to invest the money to get you maker shooting faster than 15-18 bps hope that helps welcome to da forum -BTP |

youre silly, the only realy similarity in the 2 are they have similar internals, and i didnt say the same i said similar, so if your goin to say that 98c's and a-5's are the same because they have similar internals then people are wasting their money buying high end electros (they most of the time are though so this isnt that great of an example) and start buying low end spyder electros because they're all the same right? |

well my buddy (ethan hunt for those who know him). on his a-5, the ratchet system that turns the cyclone broke, its made of cheap plastic, I know of a few others who have had problems. Iam a 98 custom guy. the only reason i like the a-5 is because there are no outside moving parts, other than that, the 98 in my pinion is the better choice.

The A-5 is better. It cycles better, its tougher i think. I think
its smaller and lighter too, i may be wrong. I have never had a
problem with the cyclone feed. My barrel adapter shot out of my
gun, and my front grip wobbled loose and fell out,and the RT i put on
it doesnt work. Ive had a few problems with it but i still think
its good

Hmm , sounds like Chroznak is making a good arguement for getting a 98C . LOL I've had my 98C for just about 5 months now, and put roughly 30,000 rounds thru it , only problem I have encountered to date , was I wore out the CVX valve . I bought a new one , and will rebuild (replace the O-rings and seal cup ) the old one and have a spare , Need I say more ? Keep it clean and oiled, will last a long time , that goes for either marker . My preference ?? K.I.S.S. ," Keep It Simple , Stupid !!" the fewer parts ,(electronic and mechanical ) the less there is to mess up on you . The 98C is a slightly less complex marker than the A5 , but both are good , durable guns . |

the durability isn't anything to worry about if its a tippmann gun, there like diamonds. i would get the A-5, its tippmans newest marker, in about a year and a half tippmann will come out with a new gun that will make the a-5 look like the sl-68( thats one of tippmanns old pump guns) and teh 98c will be obsolite and you won't be able to find upgrades as easily as you can now

ok - thank you for the opinions guys - for the most part i wasent concerned with the marker itself - all of tippmanns guns seem to be built like tanks.. i just want to make sure the cyclone will not be a major problem as its not like i can just drop a gravity marker on it as a backup if the cyclone drops out.. i have heard the cyclone is made with plastic parts (which seems dumb being the rest of the gun is usualyl metal) but i also see they are making upgrades and what not - (how do you find out about the upgrades as they come out with them anyway) |

how the heck did he do that ive beat on mine and nothing has broken ive even taken the cyclone apart b4 and put it together again worked fine and all the people i know that have A-5's have never had a prob where as 98 owners have completley broken off hoppers and feed systmms because of the way the 98 is built and uses standard hoppers the A-5 is the most durable gun out there |

The removable 98c elbow feeder is one of kind, you cant find one on any of the markers on the market....the only thing I hate thats on a 98c is that annoying non removable foregrip....
