underground supports to hold the ground up, lots of 4x4's and scaffold
grade planking of some kind for celing braces. other than i i don't
know what to suggest., walls and celings should be somewhat supported,
not continious, but every so many feet, maybe 4 or 5. maybe even
smaller spacing. its a different ballgame with a tunnel than a tower,
you can surrive a fall much easier than a collapise underground. all
agree?

planks can be 2x12's. that could be expensive depending on how far the
tunnel will go. anything less thana 2x12 i wouild not reccomend. no
spilts, or cracks in the material, the less knotty the better, not
knots on the sides or material. plank and support as you go of course.

Thats a pretty good idea if you really want to add some realism to the game or scenario, but its also very dangerous for anyone wit no prior experience in crawling in tight places like a tunnel...and also maintaining a tunnel on a paintball field is also hard, you dont want some woodland creature that happened to find it and make it as its new home and also, with the tunnel, the player would have to take off their gear and go in wit jus a paint pistol or making a larger tunnel jus big enough for a person to stand in could cause a serious injury or death...man made tunnels are known to cave in if not shored up properly. |

if the tunnels roof is only covered by like a foot of dirt you might get away with 2 by 6

try digging ditches, deep enough to crawl through, and then cover it with plywood, pallets, or even carpet, whatever you got we put in one like that, about a dozen feet long, but no roof because its on a slope, so its got a natural berm protection, works pretty good, and makes a good shooting position |

thanks to save time and effort, use the dirt from the ditch to make berms on the side, it will cut your digging in half maybe cut a shooting position or two if its a long trench |

i always liked building...im better at building than paintball, so i have to compensate by building all kinds of pathways, shooting positions, and secret hatches...i picked off three out of 5 guys without firing a shot...inside a barn...but then the last idiot yelled, so i pointblanked him and the last two guys spraypainted me now is a great time to dig, soils nice and moist, but dig wide, because it will sink back some |

My friends and I here in NC dug lots of trenches. It's ALOT of fun. When you pile dirt on the sides be sure to put boards on the edges to makes sure that it doesn't fall back into the trench...that gets very annoying. Also...rain is a bit of a problem. You can't use them for about a week after it rains. We also made bunkers using digging, boards, and sandbags. Much fun indeed.

There is one problem about using a trench....when it rains, the trench needs to be drained out, but how in doing it is going to be a pain....this was the same problem that both sides (Allies and the Germans) were facing during WW1.

when it rains, and the water fills into the bottom of the trench,
making it really muddy, run boards, 2x6 down the length, that will
enable you to walk down there without getting completly muddy. of
course affuming the sides are supported, we don't want them falling in,
cut plywood for trenches that are no very long for the sides, or floor,
then you can play no matter what the weather just did. (drill holes in
the floor for drainage if needed)

me and my friend(also in nc) dug a lot of bunkers, and we discovered if
you make the angled slightly towards teh middle and make sort of a
trough down the center most of teh rain runs into it and you can just
put your feeet on either side
