go to www.tippmannparts.com and order a new half....it will cost you about $35 bucks.  Everybody overtightens, forces, etc. from time to time....next time if something seems stuck examine it closely for any bolts, etc. that you may have missed.....the only exception is if your really pissed and want to throw it away anyway.

And you get a strike for flaming. Next time you wish to criticize someone, dont do it openly blatantly hostile.

I live in the Silicon Valley. Wish things were that cheap. Which alloy filler is recommended, 4043? BTW, with a name like Tigman, are you a TIG weldor.

4043 is probably the best i've also had luck with 5356 but 4043 would be my first choice

GEEZZ.. As a reminder to us all, don't forget to unscrew the ASA adapter screws before trying to open it.  And at that, never pry a cast open because if it's stuck it's stuck for a reason.

Agreed?    Indeed.

The Guy has an attitude problem.  Sexually frustrated if anything.

I can't just bend it back into place considering the fact that it will be covered by the grips?

My new baby :-P

^You can trust him on this.

At least it will still work... If you were going to say you did this to your 98 by hitting it agaist something, try doing the same thing with your ION and test its durability.

Now, you are still faced with a repair method. The Tippmann frame is a low strength aluminum alloy. Not quite "pot" metal but not an alloy that lends itself to most aluminum welding processes. If you can straighten it so that the parts fit together again you may find that an epoxy product  like JB Weld will fix it. Roughen the underside (inside) of the frame with coarse sand paper so the epoxy has something to grip. Smear some on the broken edges and press them together. Then on that roughened inside smear a layer about 1/8" thick bridging the crack line. Screw or clamp the frame to a board or other flat surface to maintain alignment until the epoxy is cured.

The other method is find a welder who knows how to braze aluminum. If he knows what he is doing it will not be cheap $50-$70. If he hasn't done such repairs before do not let him learn on yours. Find someone else
