When the tank is mounted on the gun, I find it helpful to have some type of cover with a gripping fabric on the back, like the redz covers. It makes it so that the marker does not "slip down" on your jersey or whatever you happen to be wearing.

Other than that, they are mostly used to protect fiber tanks or for looks. Not to say steel tanks don't need to be looked after, they are just not as fragile as fiber tanks.

I'd get a cover just to protect my investment.

A gun is not a weapon... It's a tool. Like a butcher knife, or a harpoon, or...uh, a...an alligator.

I'd get one. It'll look a whole lot better, and you'll have a way better grip on your tank. Not to mention it'll protect it from dings if you drop it.

Dings! In a steel tank? Actually, a cover should probably be installed to protect what ever is hit by the falling tank.

BTW, the 3000 psi steel tanks could likely be used to drive nails with no damage to the tank.

I think a tank cover is more comfortable and your tank wont move around if you get one with a grippy fabric.
