Ordering:
Opsgear has been quitely discontinuing their original line of plastic modification parts in favor of a much higher quality "military grade" collection. I recently ordered two of their new Gas Through MP5 Mag kits and one Raider Flatline Shroud with Rails. I ordered on Thursday, by telephone and asked and paid for two day air delivery. Since that would have meant delivering on Saturday, I exp[ected them on Monday. Well, that didn't happen. I got them on Tuesday, delivered to the house next door to mine. I just happened to see the box on their front porch. Opsgear's service was very professional and courteous. Opening the package: Everything was there, including one Opsgear sticker and one Raider sticker. All three parts ended up being a total of $184.00. The mags were $49.95 apiece and the shroud was $59.95. Each part was professionally packed in a plastic bag with a 4 color foldover piece at the top explaining what Opsgear does. All hardwear was there and neatly packaged. Parts Quality: All I can say is this...Opsgear is really turning out some extremely high quality parts. You have to see them to believe them. When I say High quality, I mean of the absolute highest quality. These things are truly "military grade." Well worth what they ask. The mag kit is machined from a solid billet of aircraft aluminum, no pressed steel here. It fits perfectly! It comes with two screws that will replace the existing screws in your A5. Assembly takes about 2 minutes. The look is great as you'll see at the end of this review. The A5 Flatline Shroud with the rails is machined from aluminum also. Only the rails are the Opsgear composite. You have to attach each of 4 rails via 4 machined, countersinking black screws. Lots of attention to detail here. Pay close attention to the underside of the rails as there are two with indentions for the screws that hold the endcaps of the flatline in position. Assemble the barrel and the endcaps before you attach the rails. Overall quality is superb! Way to go Opsgear. These are some of the absolute best conversion parts I have ever seen our used. No, they did not give them to me, I paid for all of them. Attaching: I bought a brand-new Response Trigger A% last night and assembled the entire gun with some other parts I had in about 20 minutes. Everything went on very well and without a hitch. I also used the JCS folding stock, an older Opsgear site rail and an electronic red dot site I bought at a local gun show. And here is the gun as it appears at present...not bad for about 30 minutes work I don't think. This will probably be an ongoing project so stay tuned. Nice review. I would have gone with the mp5 mag from specops since you can upgrade it with a palmer's stabilizer.

From my experiance their customer service has sucked horribly, I ordered twice from them. Once they didn't ship the item at all, the second time they forgot to make the item and then wouldn't give me a refund when I called about it 2 months later. |

Good review but I hope its not the only marker you have.
Main problem is that both companies SpecOps ad Opsgear are clouding minds of paintball newcomers. SpecOps with their obsolite "position" strategy to push sales of their ugly mods. Opsgear for the same reason. I do have mods that looks like real weapon but I also carry some high-end mechanical markers. When n00b considering buying a marker and insted of investing $500 into high-end marker he wasting it on A5 with cosmetic BS its just plain stupid and I blame companies like specops and opsgear for that. Yeah, I have that same problem with them. SpecOps guested me from their forum for giving hard facts about the non-existance of snipers. |

No. I have three Tippmann A5's in various stages of conversion. So if I understand correctly, you sell conversions? Edited by nauzerlvr - 15 February 2006 at 12:50pm |

No, he is talking about SpecOps and opsgear's marketing and false advertising toward new players who dont know any better. The majority of their money is made by telling kids that they need to buy this to become the "ulitimate sniper" and by telling kids that they need the A-5A2 in order to be a effective player.

i think he is stating that he hates how companies come out with products that people like and then sell them. on a real question to him is...who cares??? is it your money, nope. so chill out and let people do what they want. personally i like opsgear. i want to get another A-5 just to make it like one of their markers on the website. why, cuz i have money and time and i think it is cool. to each their own. |

Like I said above, its the marketing strategy that is unethical. SpecOps tells the new players that just started playing paintball that in oder to be the "ultimate sniper" they have to buy a $500 marker from them. In order to be an effective team commander I supposivly have to have a Pistol, and a throat mike and a A-5A2, and their special camo. This marketing strategy takes advantage of those who dont know any better is very unethical in my opinion. |

As a marketing professional, I agree with snake in this. It's the same thing
the cigarette companys tried with the cartoon camel and so on. In reality, buying certain items from a certain company will not make you a "better" player, it will make you a player better equipped with that particular companys merchandise. To be a better player, you have to have experience, not a certain type of camo or a a particular gun mod. I've been hosed by kids with crappy markers more than once! Why? Simple...they were good players!! Edited by nauzerlvr - 15 February 2006 at 1:40pm |

Ofcourse I care less.
But lets do a little math. Lets say you want to buy one of Opsgear kits for A5 to make it look like "ultimate sniper". Price tag is around $240. Now lets say some 12-14 years old kid earns $6 in hour doing something-something. Now tell me this. Does this freaking kit cost 40 hours of underage labor?????? I am not even asking you how does it possible that cosmetic parts (not even performance upgrade!) cost more than marker itself!!!!!!! |
