I know we've done this before, with the sad songs threads, etc, but I'm doing another.
For me, it's Right Where It Belongs, by Nine Inch Nails. I think part of it is that I saw it in concert, where they lower a HUGE screen that conceals the entire stage and play a movie on it while they perform the song. You can see the visuals with the song here. That's actually Right Where It Belongs V2, but the lyrics are the same as the other version. Either way, the song always strikes a chord with me, and can hit me alot harder than almost any other song. How about you? *edit* From that youtube link you can also find live versions, where it shows concert footage of the song. I'd also recommend that, it can be even more touching with all the people there. When I was there, nearly every person in the place was singing along. I like that song too. She has an incredible voice. For me the song is "Matador" by Semisonic. The song wasn't a single, so there was no video or anything for it, so unfortunately, no links of the song. The song is about the end of summer, and perhaps of your youth and innocence itself. It has this beautiful melancholy feel to it, without being cheesy. |

You know what I just realized? Almost every song on Thursday's War All the Time gets me. It's just a sad record, and every song paints a strong image in my mind.

Not much of a country fan myself, but "The Dance" (Garth Brooks) definitely gets me depressed. Same with Billy Joel's "Pianoman".
