Man, this process of talking to patent lawyers, the expense I have to bear and wondering if someone's going to usurp my hard work is really taxing. I hope I'm not pissing in the wind.

You might want to, keep in mind, that even if somebody created a prior product and didn't patent it, they could later patent it and claim prior art with enough evidence and get your patent thrown out (if you made a patent after they had already been producing and selling the product).

If they don't have a patent, then they will have a VERY difficult time trying to shut you down, but even if you patented first, they could get your patent thrown out if they were making the product long before you came around.  It is your responsibility when you apply for a patent to check for prior art that would overrule your patent in court.   If you fail to do a good job at it, you're just wasting your money in the patent application as your patent wouldn't hold up against the company with prior art, but should hold up against any company who started producing afterwards..  Which is what patents are designed to do, protect an idea against companies who produce AFTER you've released your product/idea.  Companies that released the same product BEFORE you, can easily kick you around the courtroom, whether you have a patent or not.

Spend some time researching "Prior Art" it is that kills most patents in the courtroom.

NP. I hope to field test it soon. I was supposed to go yesterday, but it rained all Saturday night and my brothers vagina was hurting, so I stayed home. I got my NTM A-5 today, and am itching really bad now, so I might have to find the time real soon.

Awesome oldp and thanks for that review. Note to self: MUST MAKE DIAGRAM! lol, I'm such a lazy butt I still have to get to that, soon as my hand recovers from cutting all these patterns. Hey oldp, mind telling us how it goes when you finally do take it into the field? I'd love to hear about it.

Ok, so Techie sent me a set for my Richochet hopper back in late June and I finally got around to installing it. Here is my review:

1 Installation : Relatively easy for anyone that can put together a very basic puzzle. I was able to figure out what goes where, but would suggest possibly marking the backs of the pieces and including a basice diagram on a sheet of paper. Also, I did notice that it actually worked  better putting the outside peices in first and than putting the side peices in to better fill the gaps. Perhaps on the back of the diagram number them in the order it is suggested they go in.

2. Fit: Very good. The only part that didn't cover completely was the pieces the went on the top, they didn't fully cover to front screw bump, but I don't see that really effecting much. I had a couple of gaps, but probably more user error than them not being cut correctly. I did do a little trimming with an exacto knife, but nothing major. One improvement (IMO) I made on the design, was to cut the piece that fits onto the lid into strips to allow for quick view of fill level on my hopper. If you cut them into 1/4" strips and position them with 1/4" spaces you still get the quieting factor, plus you can see if you still have balls.

3. Sound Deadening: Yup. Worked just like it should I filled my hopper about 1/2 way and shook it around. I noticed it was considerably less noisy. I realized this when pouring the ball in that not only did it deaden the rattling of the full hopper, but also made the loading process quiter. Might be another idea of padded pods to quiet the process more. Bonus.

4. Conclusion: I think it would be a useful product especially for the Scenario/Woodsball player. While I have not gotten a chance to use it in actual play yet, I am someone who likes to sneak around and I feel that this would give me an advantage over the next guy. For the price marked on the bag, I think it would be worth the price of admission.  10/10

ATM that's on hold ammo. I know you've been wanting to test one for me and I haven't forgotten about you. I'm just so caught up with the three I have right now you know? You'll be the first field tester once I get around to it.

Ok guys, good news for those with an R5 that would like to field test it. I have 2 slots left and as it has been from the beginning, all you have to do is try my mod and test it to the best of your ability. When you feel that you've tested all that you can, post up and tell everybody how it went for you. After that you enjoy the mod and tell all your pals about it.

Here's the completed field tests and current active participants.

It was an afterthought.  I have had breaks in the past when my hopper has been shot in a game.  They pretty much stopped after I put a neoprene cover over the hopper.

Hey folks. new to the site.  Happen to catch this post floatin on the web, looks really cool.  Then you said we could try it!  I'll be willing to put the word out everywhere.  I play on a pretty serious scenerio team.  Got a nice forum.

Do you think I could get a set for the X7?  I'll take a few pics and post them too

Not all who wonder are lost.

Employees? Haha, at least let me get it off the ground first. I will admit that I at least have one employee though, my wife.
