So I had to do this at work today, sort of an ice-breaking debate exercise thing, but still pretty interesting to see how into it people can get, and the different answers people get. I'm curious to see if the forum can agree on who is the most responsible:
So who is responsible for the death of the baroness, from 1 to 6; The Baron, the baroness, the lover, the friend, the boatman, or the madman. 1)_______________________ 2)_______________________ 3)_______________________ 4)_______________________ 5)_______________________ 6)_______________________ Edited by choopie911 - 29 June 2010 at 2:44am |

the madman
the lover the baroness the friend the boatman The Baron Simply because the madman actually killed her. The Lover, because if you gonna tap it, you shoudl take some responsibility. No one likes a loser lover. Step up man. The Baroness, because it is a direct result of her actions. She should have stayed in the castle, or just stayed out all night and taken her lumps when the baron came home. The friend, because they didn't force her to go to the madman, she could have spent the night with them. They are lame for not giving her money, and I'd probably have written them off as a friend, but still :P The boatman because why should he give out charity? The Baron, cause what did he have to do with the story again? KBK |

I have done this too. I hated it because there is no real answer. It really depends on if you look at cold hard facts or you think sympathetically.
1) Madman (because he actually killed her) 2)Baroness (this is where it gets sympathetic) 3)Lover 4)Boatman 5)Friend 6)Baron (if listened to, this would have never happened) Kayback, the Baron could be at fault for being a horrible husband and the wife having to find a lover to treat her better. Robocop, yeah I got that, but the same with most of these things, there isn't enough information to go on. Did he actually beat her? (physical abuse), was he just threatening her? (Mental abuse), did he know there was a madman on the loose and wanted to protect her, but chose the wrong method (ultimately wanting to protect her).....
"Punishing" her might mean not giving her jewels, or taking her jewels away. Or getting rid of her hand-dog. There are many cases where what he said could be construed as non physical abuse, meaning she left the castle for no real reason besides being young and dumb. I'd still rank him last. KBK |

1. The madman - He literally killed her.
2. The Baroness - She put herself in a bad situation
3. The Lover - Needs to grow up and get over himself.
4. The Friend - True friends do anything in their power to help a real friend in need.
5. The Husband - Be a better husband, then maybe your wife won't run off to another man.
6. The Boatman - The boatman has to make a living for himself.

I agree because it wasn't the boatman's fault that the baroness went out of the castle and she should have to pay him for his services. Edited by Rofl_Mao - 29 June 2010 at 4:36am |

But she was a skanky ho and could have offered other payment. IF she wasn't a skanky ho, and was a better wife, she wouldn't have left the castle against her husbands wishes. I'd still rank the Husband last. KBK |

Agreed fully. The Baroness agreed to her husband's jealous demands. If she refused, she wouldn't have been in this plight.

1. Madman, as he did the killing.
2. Baroness. She brought the whole situation on her self AND was a cheating wench. 3. Lover, for not protecting someone he was romantically involved with. 4. Friend for not helping a friend in danger. The boatman is innocent, as he is not a charity organization. The Baron MAY be guilty, as it's not proven one way or the other if the madman was at the drawbridge on his order. Either way, he warned her. |

Technically the madman is at fault for her death, but the baroness is stupid.
If someone tells you will die if you do something, and decide to do it... Chalk this one up as a win in the Natural Selection category. |

#1 person to blame is the Baroness. She didn't listen, even though the end result was something bad. It her fault she is a floozy. Now the mad man on the other hand, while he did commit the actual murder here who is to say that he isn't Clinicly insane? Therefor not responsible for his actions. Either way if the wench had have just stayed in the Kitchen preparing a mean feast for her man like it says in the bible(It is in there somewhere) Then all of this could have been avoided. |

The blame in this scenario rests entirely on a single person: President Obama.
(I really can't believe no one else said it.) |
