Yep, server seems to be completely down. I was able to get on then it shut down but I was able to get back on. Not anymore though.

I built my house on a mountaintop near spawn. People are building all over, though occasionally a group travels far from spawn and starts building there. The construction gets widespread pretty quickly.

I hope so. Too often we have people venturing far and wide before placing their first stone. I remember in previous servers having a ton of people on but not seeing a single one within 500 blocks of spawn.

500 blocks is really small. I have the spawn within sight distance, but since I am building a farm, I am on the outskirts.

New suggestion: If you want to develop in the outskirts, you develop something "in town" first. That way it actually feels populated. Our flat map was incredible for community building and proximity but unrealistic, this map is realistic and gorgeous. Lets use it.

So I got around to updating the software I use to render the map at http://shenko.dyndns.org:8080/
Neat new features. Click on the little painting icons to see a first-person shot from that position. The way it's done is by placing a sign and making the text
The shot is generated from the back of the sign wherever it's aimed. |
