Suiting up!

Anybody else love suits? I've started to get an itch for them and think they should be somthing I should start collecting. Nothing gets you smiles and compliments like being suited up.

For new years I bought a new Sean Jean(suprisingly nice) 3 piece suit. With some clark dress shoes. Hitting up montreal with a crew all suited up.  Should be a good time.

I use my suits for 3 things. Weddings, interviews, and funerals. Otherwise it's just a khakis and tie kind of affair.

Call me old fashioned but I do love the cap toe oxford, slips ons are fine but a cap toe or wingtip can be beautiful.

I always tell myself that I pull off suits well, though it may just be a coping mechanism since I hate how hot they get. Lace up dress, every time.

For NYE I'll probably just wear nice jeans and a button down, still deciding on the tie.

I've noticed a lot of people being too open with their clothing in dress up situations, particularly with interviews.  During some of my med school interviews, which should be a conservative, best presentation possible situation, many people would wear bright colors or odd attire.  A blazer, khakis and a bright yellow bow tie just doesn't cut it in my opinion;  neither dose a pink sweater and short skirt for a woman.  In contrast, all of the 'older' interviewees seem to have very conservative dress, in black or navy with a white shirt and subdued tie (how I dress).

I own black and grey suits, as well as a navy blazer with various dress pants.  The shoe is always a black or brown oxford.  Boring?  Sure.  But it's professional.

On another note:  has anyone ventured into cufflinks?  I accidentally bought a cufflink shirt and didn't notice until the morning of an interview;  had to improvise to make it look like a regular cuff.  I still haven't made the jump and purchased a pair of cufflinks though.
