I want a good old fashioned trigger. no laser, touch screen, remote controlled or mind controlled for that matter.

Paintball is the best sport no matter what anyone says, and if you cheat you get beat. Snipers rule!

The idea behind smart parts patententing the idea (as explained by one guy on the AIR forums) is that they probably plan(planned - this is before WDP) to then extend that patent to all electrically actuating triggers, so that they could fully grasp the electro market. I highly doubt they had any actual plans to produce a marker with that kind of trigger actuation - the bugs in the software would be horendous...

No Patrick, Smart Parts really does have this patented.
They thought of the idea and created a patent many years ago, but realised it was a foolish idea. Hell they even advertised it a while ago on their sight before realising it had way too many bugs. It would be affected by numerous things, like humidity causing the gun to fire. Anyone ever tried to use a touchpad mouse with a pen? Doesn't work does it? Needs the warmth of your fingers...well a warm day could cause the gun to misfire, or on a cold day it wouldn't fire. If they used the idea, say good by to gloves. Touchpad triggers were an idea long dead, way too many errors are possible, and it's plain silly. Personally I dislike super short trigger pulls close to the frame, such as the 03 shocker, and this would be even worse. Anyways, cool idea at first, but after some thought it would never really work (without major $$ spent on R&D) |
