Klaus, if that is how you did it, its a very smart idea, congrats. and no, it probibly wont hurt the gun, except fill it with paint. Like you said, I wonder if you could slow down the cycle rate, cause that would be awsome! Also, i dont think the cycle rate of an A5 would be as high as 60 bps, but its probibly still shooting at about 35 bps, or a little more.Clap

bingo buddy boy-thats exactly what i did

i put plenty of oil in the bolt/action-which surprisingly makes a relatively effective hydralulic buffer-its almost to a managable rate

Cool double post! Take that stupid toothpick out and get an E-Grip. Then, you can go 12bps Fully Auto.

sorry about the double post-completely my fault

yeah 12 bps sounds awesome compared to a meager 45bps (hydraulic buffered) and its way cheaper than a toothpick

...except, im the kinda guy who likes to screw around with stuff-without guys like me, we'd still be grunting in a cave

im not calling the Egrip ineffective-i completely believe it works well but im not asking for anyone to tell me to buy an egrip

if anyone here is literate (yep, that means you can read), then please read the part where i wrote "any advice on how to get it to work, let me know"  i don't need anyone to tell me to take out the toothpick or to buy an upgrade

and please quit telling me im going to break my gun or as "paintball_playa" so eliquently put it-"yea, it does sound like hes trying to **edited** up his gun" because if it breaks ill fix it

im a newb who thinks its cool and wants to break my gun eh?

well, i dont think im cool-i think your cool for making fun of people who like to tinker and have a little fun-oh your so awesome, an upfront to God himself-please teach me to be as cool as you cause im sick of people liking me and if i could be cool like you everyone would avoid me and i could die alone, old and bitter

k.... fine... i guess i did come off a bit mean...

the forum has a constant flow of people, who are generally new to the sport, post about this.  they think it is a good idea, but it is not.  it will ruin the gun if you keep doing it.  and tippmann isn't going to replace parts if you were basically taking the sear out of the entire operation of the marker.  if you want to have a properly working marker... take out the toothpick and pull the trigger faster.  of course... if you can find some way of slowing down the cycling speed without completely ruining your gun more power to ya!

and only in time will you be able to be as cool as me ...

apology? accepted and sorry if i came off as mean

i would never waste tippmanns money by making them replace parts i broke...but schiels sporting goods store is a different story-guns under warenty-no questions asked

if i cant get it working, ill take the toothpick out-its a two second job-and go back to tossing firecrackers to make up for lack of airborne paint

in case anyone wants to try it themselves-please note-i have no
idea how it would work with HP-i use CO2 with no regulator or
low pressure system
maybe this will help clarify what i did to the sear

1. remove the handgrip and then trigger mechanism
2. pull side casing off of trigger mechanism-it should come
easy-its the steel plate the sandwiches the trigger and springs
3. theres a slot-about 2 cm long and as thick as a toothpick (i
used what i had at hand)-find the slot
4. push the sear catch (its on top and goes down every time
you pull the trigger) forward
5.break a toothpick or something that will fit in the slot so that it
is as long/wide as the trigger mechanism frame (so once u put
the pick in the trigger casing still fits on)
6. while the sear is in forward position, place the toothpick in
the slot so it holds the sear forward in the slot
7. reassemble trigger and gun
8 cock gun-then pull back handle all the way back, hold the
trigger, and let go-the bolt should fly foward
9. try it out with short bursts of air-it may freeze up your gun in
cold weather

Attempt at your own risk-IT MAY DAMAGE YOUR GUN-it hasnt
hurt mine at all, but i dont want anyone breaking their gun

from time to time, you may need to put in a new piece of
toothpick

Is this toothpick wooden or plastic?

I have a 98 Custom so I don't know how it would work. I think my Qloader can handle 60 bps but everyone says its 30bps.

i just tossed in a piece of wooder toothpick-normal round toothpick-but i think plastic would work better

let me know if you try it

ps...if you try it, dont run paint through it unless u wanna strip ur gun down to clean it out
