For basically the same price, which is a better buy? The Smart Parts Ion, or the WGP Autococker Trilogy Tactical

well, trilogys arent that good of a gun and there are reasons why the ion is so popular and the trilly isnt out of those 2, ion but do you play speedball or woods? |

Well, most often I play in an outdoor field, but because of the size of the courses, I wouldn't call it woodsball.
I like my A-5, don't get me wrong, it suits my purposes. But it's getting old, falling apart, and I'm looking to buy something new, and after hearing 'Ion' repeated so many times, decided to check it out. |

There pretty good guns, are you willing to buy used? And price range? Or are you set on those 2? |

If your leaning towards the ion, you should check out an Indian Creek Designs (ICD) Promaster for $250 |

I'm really just considering buying because I saw Ion was a good price, for an apparently good gun, and then noticed autococker was similarly priced, and remembered my dreams of owning an autococker (as a kid). I'd rather buy new, as I already have upgrades, etc picked out, and there's a store nearby for a website that I've been picking all the stuff out from. |

Well, yah both guns are gonna be pretty good. If you have a little bit more, id get the Indian Creek Designs Promaster they just recently came down in price and are really good guns The main thing your looking at is Do you want speed- Ion wins-----cocker shortstroke or a mechanical gun with better accurasy(sp?)? |

I may be willing to buy the ICD Promaster, as I was setting my limit at 500 bucks canadian (ion, new trigger, co2 with siphon, and clamp feed neck was to be bought for roughly that price). What are advantages Promaster has over Ion, and would there be anything dire to be replaced/upgraded?
Also, can it run on CO2? Edited by SuperXero - 20 September 2006 at 8:47pm |

Well, you never hear of people running promasters on co2 i know rarely you see imps on co2, but its being done with antisiphon more than you think i guess id go with the ion if you have any doubt of the pm and co2 and your question- all you need is a asa and hose, and thats it. Promasters are amazing guns stock |

Trilogy...not much of an Autococker IMO.
I would highly suggest getting HPA and to see that you have only have about $250 american, I would say get the Ion, but wait until after the World Chapionships, the newer Ion will be released along with the Proto Rail (Dye's Ion competitor) and the 06 Ion prices will drop drastically. |

Get the '04 WGP Prostock. It's only $170 USD over Action Village, and is easily better than a Trilogy. Plus, it handles CO2 nicely.

Sorry...my bad. I'm was being ignorant. U'm well than that's $446 US, but still wait. The Proto Rail is believed to be realesed during November during the Championships. The Proto Rail is made by Dye and supposedly blows the Ion out of the water. |

Well, I think it all comes down to my home field. If they fill HPA, i'll get an air tank, and a PM, if they only fill co2, then i'm getting anti-siphon with co2 tank, and ion.

Dye is. Dye owns Proto. They will supposedly be releasing the DM7, PM7, and the Proto Rail after the Championships. Th Proto Rail will be priced between $200-300 US. |
