i know this is a tippmann site, but i see alot a guys talk about stuff other than so let me ask u guys about kingman guns, im thinkin bout getting a spyder xtra, its for a beginner with a low budget, how well do these guns operate, how much can you customize em? durability, etc?

if you can turn back the hands of time to when you bought your first paintball marker, in your experience, which gun would you buy?

hollehlluya hollaback!!

They operate terribly.

Low end spyders suck.

Save your money and get a tippmann. I would have definatly bought a 98C as my first gun

First of all everyone on here except for me is biast against spyders.

Now, I have not had any experience with a spyder xtra but I did have a spyder imagine. Spyders are good guns as long as you take care of them. You have to oil and clean them after every game. They are alot of upgrades for spuders. The only real bad thing about them is that the trigger is hard to change. But other than that they are a good gun.

spyders have great potential, its just out of the box they are kind of delicate. so, if you want a good spyder, be ready to drop some cash into it.

My friend has one... boy did he regret it. Spend the extra cash and get a 98c. you WILL NOT regret it.

the 98c is a marker that grows with you as a player. upgrade it as you go, theres always something else you can do.

They have xtras on the field I play and I have to say they are pretty good. I mean they shootfine and the cleanind is the easiest thing (not like the 98c).

Most people say spyders suck without even had tryed them, and they will tell you to get 98c. But it depends on what you will do. 98c will be great for woods-ball,
but it sucks is speed-ball. The xtra can be pretty much used for both.

Don't be presumptuous or anything.

I have experience with Imagines. They suck. Hard.

I have both a Spyder Imagine and a Tippmann 98c, and even though they both are backups/loaners now if I had to pick one to use it would be the Spyder hands down.

You can upgrade just about every single part on the it (even though IMO its not worth it to get more then a barrel and then get stuff you can trasnfer to your next marker) And as long as you clean and lube them up after you play they are very reliable, I honestly don't beleive these people saying they had constant problems with their spyders unless they have no idea how to maintain a paintball marker, my spyder imagine is the ONLY marker I have that has never given me a problem, even though my tippmann breaking was my fault for trying some sketchy mods.

not really. i really do like them. i have a thing for the underdog, and i like making a seemingly crappy gun work wonders. see my imagine in the gun of the month thread on pg.1.

I use to work at a large paintball field, and we had about 30 spyders and about 100 98 customs. The only guns we ever had problems with were the spyders. There is a reason the model 98/98 custom are the number one selling marker. There is nothing more reliable. I'm sure some of you have had spyders that worked great but overall the tippmanns are more reliable. Go with a 98.
