    Posted: 16 January 2006 at 11:25am
Im getting a computer for my 16th birthday. Im thinking I'll want a laptop since I do alot of home recording and such and that would be much easier. But I will also still want one capable of playing new end games. I think my price range ends at around 1000 dollors. Any suggestions?

Wow you are young.

If you are into home recording:

www.Apple.com

www.MacMall.com

To get somthing good your going to need to go up a little on the $1000 range, but it will be worth it. Macs are better at everything in media.

Maybe save up for a while.

I am getting a Powerbook here soon for college.

Most new games are ported to both Mac and PC. You may not be able to run down to your local Target and buy the Mac version, you may need to order it online, but the games are there yes.

Really??
Well whichever you choose, you're not gonna get a gaming powerhouse for $1000. Get something with a separate graphics processor, and you'll at least be able to play today's games. (I'm not sure if this is the same for macs).
Whatever you do, you're gonna want to budget in a nice external sound card that has some inputs, and that's gonna be costly... do you have the option of upgrading a current computer?

There's the trouble with macs. Great for video editing, picture editing, and recording. The downside is there isn't that game part of the computer you want. Macs have some games, but not as many as a windows pc.

I don't know what games you are going to play with 32mb of video memory. The only Apple laptop under 1000 is the base iBook with ATI Mobility Radeon 9550
32MB DDR video memory.

What kind of games do you want to play?

That sounds like the better plan.

Wait untill you go to college to get a laptop, that is when it is really needed.

I would advise against listening to Tae Kwon do. Look at his eyebrows, and note his emachine.
