Timmys are nice... but the cyborg would put both a timmy and frestyle in its place... their just as fast as a timmy, real efficiant, accurate, and potentialy cheaper than a new timmy

Did anyone mention a Proto Matrix? I haven't shot one yet but I hear they rip as fast if not faster than a stock DM4 or 5. I think they look sweet too. They are smaller than the DM4 and 5 and supposedly a little lighter (they took off the on/off as well). You said 600$ and UP. How much more up? The Proto's are listed under 1000. I believe you can get one for 950$ which is awesome if they can compete with a 4or5 Matrix as suggested. I can attest to Dye's quality as I own a DM4 and I really don't think I could do any better. Like someone stated once you get into the high end markers it's just preference. I know a LOT of Timmy and Shocker owners who down my DM4, but I shoot just as fast (IF NOT FASTER) and shoot em out half the time so it's about the player and being comfortable with the marker. I have never broken paint and never had a single problem with my marker (knock on wood), it is extremely easy to maintain and comes with all the spare parts and instructions you need. I've heard a lot of great things about the Cyborgs as well. I am not a cocker fan. I tried it and don't care for them. If you are going to spend the money for an Ebladed cocker, that means you can probably afford an Impulse or something more reliable that can shoot as fast if not faster. The fastest shooting tourney marker at under 600$ that I know about is Oddysey's O3's ... they look nice and shoot super fast stock. They run around 4-500$ Just remember you get what you pay for most of the time. The best thing to consider is do you want to buy a $600 marker that you will have to upgrade another $500 to get it where you want it ... or should you get a $800-1200 marker and be done with it. The shockers are going pretty cheap right now ... if you are looking to save money I would say you can't go wrong with a Shocker. I am not a Smart Parts fan but they have good quality markers and I shot them so they are definitely fast and quiet. I love my DM4 and wouldn't trade it no matter how many tourney guys try to hate on it :) It's been worth every penny to me. Take a look at the new Proto's soon to be out though. They are cheaper and look awesome IMO with bps rated as fast as the DM4&5. Right now I think Dye is the highest quality high end markers. With them you have a great package with neat organized easy to read manuals, no need to go buying extra chargers (cough Angel) or worrying about spare parts or another barrel (ultralights are THE barrels to use). Just my opinion after I went through strenuous weeks of debating myself. From what I understand the only difference with the Proto from the Dye Matrixes is there is no on/off gas valve at the front (big whoop I don't need mine anyway because it won't fire when the gun's OFF) and it comes with the new Proto barrel instead of the Utralight ... which is supposed to be awesome none the less. And it doesn't look like the feedneck is adjustable. Which would be the only thing I wouldn't like about it.

if you wanna save moeny and still get a Great Gun, Go with a 2k2 or a
ECX Timmy, or if you wanna spend the extra 50$ get the Texas Storm.
There just as fast as all those other guns but are like .5lbs heavier and may not look as flashy(Except the 2k2 which looks Sweet) I'm unsure if the 2k2's/ECX's still get that warrenty Bob offers though, but for the money a ECX or a 2k2 would be the best bet... |

Proto Matrix, or, if you've got the cash, get a DM4. My PM5 rips, but
the DM4 is faster and there are more options. I'm selling my Proto to get a DM4 with Musashi. Oh, and here are the differences between a Proto and a DM4, straight from the owner: The Proto Matrix is worse than the DM4 in a few ways: -No clamping feedneck -Can't upgrade with a chip, the whole board has to be reprogrammed -No Ultralite, which doesn't sound like a big deal, but one piece barrel= no bore sizing. And a pinched ball is an unhappy ball. -The Proto is slightly taller than the DM4 The Proto Matrix is better than the DM4 because: -It's about 2 ounces lighter -It's 1/3 of an inch shorter -No membrane, just simple push buttons Contrary to popular belief, I get the same amount of shots with both on my 68/3000. |

I agree with Robert Poulson. Purchase a matrix and you will not be let down. Matrix owners who switch guns are typically just looking for something different, but I have seen countless local ex-matrix owners return to owning another matrix. A matrix will spoil you with ease of maintenance, shooting behavior, lack of paint breaks/chops. I'm in the same boat where I have yet to break ANY paint in my dm4. My only complaint is that it's an air hog, compared to the other guns i've owned and shot. |
