Hi, I'm relatively new to the forum but since being here I've noticed that anytime I see a "new guy", such as myself, try to propose a new idea we're usually flamed 'till we're burnt. So bare with me, and if this idea has been proposed then I hope nobaody patented it.
Anyways from the subject title you can probally tell that this will have to deal with the trigger or lack thereof. I orginally got the idea from the touch screen computers used at McDonalds. The trigger would be removed but not the conecpt of one. All there would be is a flat surfaced composed of the same material and technolgy used in the McDonalds screens I was talking about earlier. Since there is no trigger there is no trigger to deal with. There is no pre or post trigger travel or toe adjustments to deal with. Trigger Upgardes such as magetic attracting and repelling can be done away with. And most important you can shoot faster. Of course there are some set backs. The "trigger" is very sensitve physically. The slightest touch will set it off making it almost dangerous. And it will only be compatible with electronic markers, of course. The hardward might not be that durable (I'm not sure how well it will hold up, that's 50/50) But most electronic triggers are very sensitive already, the Angel 4 fly has a trigger pull that is less than a half a mouse click. But original triggers can be "pulled" or set-off by anything: a barrel condom pull string, clothing, your harness, anything that can touch it. Touch triggers (Thats what I call them) only activate when touched by bare human skin. Im sure there are other pro's and con's for it, like no dangerous bounce or over shooting but no gloves. Just an idea I had, tell me what you think.... |

Yep, been thought of. (I hope you don't mean me flaming people; I try to avoid that).
I think it violates some NPPL rule or other. But it's been proposed and shot down already. Sorry. |

I did hear of one in R&D stage for some company. To make it safe a speacial glove would have to be worn to make it fire. I havent heard anything on it lately though. |

maybe if it was only fired by a heated object (finger) notive a touch
pad on a laptop only moves the cursor if you use your finger cause its
heat sensitive
the glove thing would be cool but more expensive |

New guy to the forums? You have over 1300 posts and have been a member since 2002, how does that count as new?
But anyways, it would be a pretty impressive trigger but as someone else said, I believe the NPPL shot it down as there is not mechanical part, so one of the testing robots could not be connected to it and used to find "cheater" guns. At least I think that was the reason that someone gave me, who knows. |

get like a laser thing (light sensitative) and everytime something passes it (your finger) it shoots. that would make it shoot VERY fast.

Technologically pretty straightforward, but (IMO) the main problem is that it would be slower than a regular trigger. An actual trigger provides resistance and guides your finger(s). What separates a good trigger from a not so good trigger isn't how light it is - all electro triggers can be impossibly light. What makes a good trigger is how well the pressure interacts with your finger. With your trigger plate there is no pressure at all - try drumming out 15 bps on your table top...

If the pad was also the lcd screen it would be crazy. You could walk the trigger and do settings adjusments at the same time. The ref starts getting close so you switch back to semi from full auto w/ mad ramping.
