I had heard a rumor it would be just a plastic shell around an ION
(like the colored body kits), if anyone gets their hands on one it
would be nice to know for sure how SP went about doing this. I
thought I saw something about another company that was working on a
similar concept, but I can't find anything on it now. I guess SP
beat them to the punch.

Screw the Smart Parts SP8, the JCS MKX8 is much better, costs less and uses no tools to disassemble for internal upgrades, repairs and cleaning
http://www.bp-usa.com/mkx8.htm And yes, it is a replica of the XM8

actually, it's the XM8, or the M8 as is will be known shortly, the replacement for the standard M-16 rifle. the real XM8 is the made by Hechler and Kock, and is the first non-U.S. made standard rifle in modern times. go to HK.com, or just google XM8.

I like your gun, but it does look like an ion with a new body kit.
