What it comes down too is this. It is better for the recball/scenario/big game to adapt and teach small unit tactics and sportsmanship than to promote individual performance. By doing that your promote the growth of the sport. |

Look, I don't know why everyone gives these guys who call themselves
snipers such guff. They are simply using "sniper" as a general
term for their tactics, which rely on concealment rather than
overwhelming firepower.
Myself, a recent convert to the school of hardcore stock player have to rely on fast, agressive tactics on the field to compensate for the shortcommings in rate of fire and ammunition of my marker. All snipe means (look it up, go ahead) is to fire on an enemy from a concealled position. The word sniper comes from the name for hunters of the bird the snipe, who used heavy camo to target their prey. The french gillie's then came along with their suits of the same name, with the purpose of blending not only with the color of the environment, but with the texture and look of folliage. Three dimensional camo, as you've probably heard many times before, is only so effective because it breaks up the smooth lines of the human form that would otherwise stand out in an environment. So therefore, gillie suits, while ideally modified for the specific field, aren't entirely necessary. Additionally, I have met players who have made customized suits, which isn't that hard if you live anywhere near the field, cause the forest near your house most likely has very similar plant life to the area you will be playing in. My point: To each is own. You don't need to be militant anti-sniper-type-players, because quite frankly what have the "snipers" ever done to you? That is, besides criticize the high volume of paint you shoot? Some of us can't afford to play that way (myself included), and would rather not. |

I'd give our statements some creedence...except the gilliesuit comes from the SCOTISH gillies (game keepers/wardens) not the French. |

i support barrel tap's statement. it dosent describe the person, it describes the tactics. the word sniper has developed such a stigma, that people who use it are considered noobs. this is sad. i support snipers mostly, but i also enjoy running around and getting mixed up in the big firefights as much as the next guy. i just prefer being sneaky...that doesnt make me a noob. honestly, why can't we just all get along. People arn't going one way or the other. I don't understand what's wrong with ghillisuits. It's superior camo. Just because someone is wearing ghilli doesn't mean they're a "sniper". I know everyone uses "sniper tactics" but snipers use them more than the common paintballer. does that make them better? no. It's a STYLE of play, much like a position on the speedball field. If snipers didn't excist, why do we have all those articals in magazines? In scenario events, our "sniper" is actually a recon. He uses a scope to watch opponents bases and uses one of those JT walkie talkie headset things whitch fit inside his mask to communicate. He'll take a shot or two at people, and get them out, but mainly, he just lets his team know when it is safe to raid or not. i'm not looking foward to getting flamed. But for the record, i'm not a sniper. |

well said thank you, flame me all you want doesnt change how i want to play. I will still own and get owned in return. I never once said that im a "Lone wolf" I love working with a squad, i just wish more people do that. I love my ghillie suit. I disagree with any one (including the "Vet" who i respect every thing you have said) about the use on ghillies. in the heat of the fight, its amazing how easy it is to be concield. but i just think that ghillies are fun and will use it when Necessary on the right map. A drop forword is pretty much the only option besides a remote, I run a rome and love it, personally I don't like them just because how they look. I'm biased since I run a remote I guess :P, anyways man, awesome gun. |

blah blah blah can i delete my thread already? I think you all are taking me the wrong way... Nutter look up the work sniper your the dumb ass. heres some help http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=sniper That is all im saying I DO, in paintball. I have the gear, I have the gun (just like you all do, mine does NOT shoot better or farther than yours) I just gear my game around a differant way of playing. deploying common tactics that militant snipers and infantry use. Now just leave it at that Edited by raverfusion |
