So, I'm actually considering getting homeschooled. It would be so much easier, I could just get high marks without even trying. Any opinions on that?

Yeah, why waste the effort in getting good grades when you can concentrate on more important things?

I'm not really "homeschooled" per se - but I've designed my own
curriculum, worked with tutors, and taken college courses rather than
complete my final year at highschool... I don't know what your approach
would be, but independant schooling isn't a walk in the park if you're
doing it properly.

^^^made me chuckle

The best thing about being home schooled is you don't have to get all those painful immunizations to attend.

And high school math is good for what?

I would think that universities and colleges would be much less likely to accept you if you were homeschooled.

Just my guess anyways

I do virtual school. I'm currently re-taking most of the classes I failed in 10th grade (reason I left regular school...Total druggy loser). I have straight A's and will be done with my school year by Christmas and then I have an 8 month Vacation till senior year (back at traditional school).

I don't want to generalize, but this usually seems to be the case, at least in my own experience.

Incorrect.
In fact, in some cases homeschooling can actually give you a leg up at
competitive universities - that is as long as you're not a total weirdo.

Just consider how many highschools there are in the country. For each of
those highschools there is a valedictorian, a salutatorian and a handful of
other students who are extremely bright.

How many people, on the other hand, are driven and passionate enough
to persue an education independantly? These applicants are put in a
completely different pool and can be very appealing to universities.

It sounds like the poster is looking for an easy out, so he'll probably just
end up screwing himself over, but homeschooling (as long as it's seperate
from religion) isn't such a faux pas these days as far as universities are
concerned.

.....Just for the record....

Anyways, don't cheat yourself out of high school. You'll have some of the best times of your life there and in those years.

homeschool is good, if you want to brainwash your kids into having the same beliefs as you.

Well, I just find some of the stuff we learn at school pointless. Homeschool, I would be able to concentrate on the important stuff and not waste time going to school, eating lunch at school, going back home, and other assemblys... etc.

For one thing, high school math prepares you for higher math.  Obviously higher math classes are very useful, in fact in my AP calc class, after each unit we have to write an essay on real world applications.

If there's one thing I've learned about traditional schooling in my
adventures as an independant study student it's that you absolutely can
not beat highschool for convenience. If you think homeschooling would
somehow be more efficient you're absolutely crazy.

Not to mention, the 'pointless' stuff you speak of is actually a really
important foundation to have.

I'm not really having a good high school life... I go to school, come home and watch T.V, go to bed and wake up for school again the next morning. I don't really have any friends...
